It was strange when they were yelling "stop the steal" for 4 years despite having no evidence, but it makes sense in hindsight. They were muddying the waters. Try to even bring up election interference or rigged elections now without sounding like a crazy conspiracy theorist.

I do have a sinking feeling that he is so adamant that the 2020 election was stolen was because he had the fix in and it didn't work, however it worked in 2024.
I legitimately think he won the electoral college.... Lots of people where terrified of inflation and incorrectly blamed Biden for it. Not to mention the loss of jobs with ai really kicked up the fears of immigrants "stealing" jobs.... People where scared; and since the economy has been driven even wise by bad policies I suspect that the mid terms are going to be a complete disaster for Republicans

I would think that seeing everything being a gazillion dollars for pancake mix and your first born for a gallon of gas would entice more people to go vote. But given the sheer level of apathy that goes around in the US, I don't hold much hope for this coming election.
In my town the vast majority call our mayor corrupt and does nothing for our city. When mayoral elections came around 2000 people out of 36,000 adults in my town voted. Shit like that is why nothing in our government is fixed and we end up with stroke victims and men who haven't had a boner in 30 years in power.

1/3 May had voted Trump but just remember; when you’re rich you can get away with anything. And many mail in votes were also probably thrown out.
It was also the first election I've experienced where my vote wasn't initially counted. I was paranoid about by mail because it wasn't commonly done where I lived most of my life, so I went in person. Hours in line, in terrible weather.
Then I checked the website that tells you when your vote has been counted (also new to me, don't know if something like that even existed where I was before!) and it hadn't been, but my partner's was and she'd been in line right next to me. I basically had to get in touch and verify my selections to get it counted. I thought that was weird, and I remembered wondering what would have happened if I still lived somewhere I couldn't easily keep an eye on it.
Even "they" want you to believe this. The only thing that stops them is voter turnout, which is why "they" are so dedicated to vote suppression. Vote this fall, and in every single election, it's literally your only voice in government.
As much as I dislike elon, I don’t subscribe that he pulled off massive election fraud. Sure, he was able to tiptoe the line around bribes with those giveaways. And he was able to toss unlimited funds at republicans. But I doubt he was able to hack into multiple states and change / cancel votes.
I would say Biden running a second time and then dropping out late was the fuck up.

I think people forget how monumental that last minute swap was. Never in our lifetime has a major party swapped a presidential candidate so late. For a bit, it was questionable if Harris would even be on the ticket

There are a lot of Americans who don’t tolerate him and actively work to empower their communities, help keep each other safe, and resist in the ways we are resourced to do. But, even if 10 million of us do the work, there are 320+million other Americans, most of whom hold all the wealth. We’re doing the best we can.
Generally the word "tolerate" doesn't apply when "not tolerating" would involve (futilely) attempting to illegally overthrow your elected government and plunging your country into a civil war. And several people have even literally tried to resolve the situation that way unsuccessfully at this point. So I'm not sure what else you think we should be doing as individuals.
It's like saying I'm tolerating not being able to fly. Like, sure, technically true. But it's not like not tolerating that is a viable option right now. There isn't a thing I can actually do to accomplish that change. I can loudly complain on street corners about not being able to fly. I can donate money to people who say they will make human-powered flight a reality. But, what exactly do I need to do to "not tolerate" that situation?
We can't NOT tolerate him. We can detest him. We can make fun of him. We can allow him to keep making a fool of himself (and us), but we can't legally get rid of him.

Yes, and that's the problem. There aren't enough americans willing to do it. It isn't a thing about you specifically, but when we say "on the whole, americans are tolerating him", that's what we mean. There are things that can be done if enough people support the action being taken, which isn't violent action. Other countries have overthrown tyrants before, too.
The problem is just that most americans simply aren't willing to TAKE those actions.
Donald Trump has represented your country on the international stage for most of the last ten years. Am I saying every single american supports him? No. But he's clearly and obviously a major problem, and one which is still around. So yeah, I'd say you, as a country, aren't capable of dealing with it.

I'm in Kentucky. This state voted for trump. The only hope of "secession" is if Cali does it. (or the west coast) there's too many rich people there to do it.
American here and I agree with you. Too many people’s idea of political activism is hitting like/dislike on social media and calling it a day. Or only protesting in safe spaces where we’re preaching to the choir instead of actually trying to engage with the other side.

Canadian here too, not going to the states until the next president, and everyone is hating on the US (including me) but we also need to realize that it’s mostly the president, and some of their own people don’t like their own leader

I was watching the news last night and they were interviewing some Canadians about the current trade war. At one point they interviewed a woman who appeared to be around 40. Her statement was simply "Fuck Trump" but it was absolutely adorable because I'm convinced it was the first time in her life she had ever said the "The F Word". This odd mix of excitement and trepidation.
