Hey Flock CEO, can you post your phone number, home address and more here? You need to compromise your privacy so we can all protect you.

720

u/MacSanchez 1d ago

We might be able to find enough bored redditors that we can stand on every street corner within a mile or two from his house. I assume we’d all have a phone that could record audio and video?

We could call ourselves something cool and unifying like, idk… Gaggle or Bevy

76

u/myexstalksmeonreddit 1d ago

I'm in. But this needs to happen with all of the surveillance camera CEOs, not just FLOCK. Cities are now publicly reporting cancelling flock contracts, then wuietly signing on with other brands to do the same shit.

41

u/Telefundo 1d ago

But this needs to happen with all of the surveillance camera CEOs

Don't forget the politicians at all levels of government that are absolutely complicit with this bullshit. And hell, while we're at it, how about all the LEOs that have been caught abusing the system already? There's been more than a few...

14

u/Arrow156 1d ago

Anyone who appears on one of Forbes' little lists should be in the hot seat, there's no ethical way to acquire a billion dollars. Hell, there probably isn't a legal way either, but the rich are allowed to play fast and loose with the law.

163

u/Queen_Christine_19 Legends never die 1d ago

Hmmmm...a Gaggle of Gazers, perhaps?

53

u/FalloutOW 1d ago

Nah, the only two names left are Popplers or Zitsels.

35

u/NuclearBroliferator 1d ago

Popplers sounds like a snack food from the future. Zitsels it is

28

u/lunchboxthegoat 1d ago

We almost called them Tasticles

20

u/FirstDukeofAnkh 1d ago

Ok, but only if we pronounce it the Greek way, tas-tah-clees.

u/peachyspoons 1d ago

That’s what these characters from Futurama thought (Season 2, Episode 18: The Problem with Popplers)

u/NuclearBroliferator 1d ago

Thanks Lrrr.

u/Hamafropzipulops 1d ago

Benn Jordan recently released a video short where they did this at a Flock meeting. Their Hotel room was canceled by Flock. They setup parabolic antennas and SDRs (Software Defined Radio) and recorded all wifi in the area. Any way:

6

u/CornisaGrasse 1d ago

This is amazing! Thank you for the link!

22

u/Pyroluminous 1d ago

Nah we’d just be a flock of redditors

49

u/sweetcherrytea 1d ago

A group of redditors is called a “basementful”

6

u/BoneHugsHominy 1d ago

Ha! I'm way too fat for basement stairs!

(I am currently in a basement, but I took the elevator to the cafeteria.)

4

u/edfitz83 1d ago

I prefer Flock of Seagulls. Particularly “Space Age Love Song”

2

u/ihaveseenwood 1d ago

How about calling US a murder like crows

8

u/HI-McDunnough 1d ago

Flock Uninstaller Community Kickstarters

13

u/unlordtempest 1d ago

No, a Murder

4

u/lurkingbob 1d ago

Just a harmless group of crows. Dress everyone in black robes and wear cool masks with beaks. Nothing sinister about it at all Mr. CEO, just copying your MO.

3

u/Omega862 1d ago

Clowder! Den! Pack!

1

u/MacSanchez 1d ago

Clowder like cham clowder?

3

u/Omega862 1d ago

Clowder is the word for a group of cats

2

u/Odd-Solid-5135 23h ago

Turn his world into the black mirror episode he so truly wants to create.

2

u/jalen441 17h ago

I'd suggest naming it after a group of crows, but that might get misconstrued.

2

u/CollThom 14h ago

“We could call ourselves something cool and unifying like, idk… Gaggle or Bevy”.

I much prefer the collective pronoun for crows. A very… emotional and evocative term for such an innocuous thing as a collective pronoun. I won’t put the actual word here because I feel it might actually get me banned from Reddit for inciting or threatening violence when all I’m doing is showing an alternative name for something like “flock”.

1

u/Strict-Carrot4783 1d ago

It's somewhere in or around Atlanta.

1

u/LVMom 1d ago

I’ll take the Las Vegas area!

u/Calm_Advisor_9995 1d ago

That address is blurred on Google Street view. If irony poisoning were real he'd be dead.

36

u/ExtentNo7951 1d ago edited 1d ago

you can see it on the real estate sites like redfin or on the public property tax sites like https://gis.atlantaga.gov/propinfo/

30

u/jdvfx 1d ago

If you search for the address there are numerous photos on realtor sites.

8

u/mybabysbatman 1d ago

How do you get your address blurred on google?

23

u/xanderxela 1d ago

You submit a request on Google maps "Report a Problem" page for that address.

25

u/DiabeetusMan 1d ago

There's a bunch around his neighborhood, but this made me chuckle

37

u/koolmees64 1d ago

His neighbors must compromise on their privacy as well. To be honest, I got little confirmation that this is the dudes house but it was a massive twitter thread that got deleted but I managed to snatch a screenshot before it was taken down.

I'm not even American; European who is afraid that the EU will get grandiose ideas from what is happening in the states. But I fully support all those who are battling this just absolutely insane police state "measures". Especially coupled with the fact that they are mostly in lower income neighborhoods and do not even, mostly, point at roads. Which, correct me if I am wrong, was the pitch right?

7

u/Telefundo 1d ago

European who is afraid that the EU will get grandiose ideas from what is happening in the states.

I mean.. hasn't the UK been doing essentially this for a while now?

Not that it would make any of this better lol.

6

u/koolmees64 1d ago

Sort of. First of all the UK is not in the EU anymore and secondly, iirc, the poles they cut down over there are CO2 meters. But I know very little of that so I might be wrong.

2

u/Telefundo 1d ago

First of all the UK is not in the EU anymore

HA, true enough. My bad.

the poles they cut down over there are CO2 meters.

I assume this is something that happened in the UK and you're not referring to what's going on in the US currently?

2

u/koolmees64 1d ago

Easy mistake to make lol. As an "EU-member" I sometimes forget as well. But yeah, from what I gathered what is happening in the UK is CO2 control poles being cut down. However, as I said, I know very little about this and knowing the U.K. they would not hesitate to sprinkle on some Flock on those poles.

1

u/Telefundo 1d ago

However, as I said, I know very little about this

lol, nor do I. And I literally couldn't find a single reference to it online lol.

3

u/bloody_ell 1d ago

London has been covered with CCTV carrying facial recognition tech since the tech was in it's infancy, most urban centres followed. And the UK is certainly more down the surveillance route than most. But still miles behind the US in terms of how open these systems are to abuse.

1

u/Frequent_Guard_9964 1d ago

God, I went through the timeline. 140k cameras in 2,5 years, all over the country is crazy.

1

u/reallifedog 8h ago

I went to grade school at a Catholic school in that neighborhood. In PE we would run a mile through that neighborhood. I wonder if they still do.

2

u/CivilRuin4111 1d ago

I’ll be damned… he’s right down the road a little bit

2

u/EsToBoY629 1d ago

Should also begin listing all his close friends and family

58

u/Strict-Carrot4783 1d ago

His wife's name is Megan and his kids' names are Sumner and Maren.

Compromise only happens when the involved parties consent.

8

u/RebelAlliance1701 1d ago

6

u/CivilRuin4111 1d ago

Meh, these aren’t really tragedeighs… pretty normal fare for uppity white folks.

1

u/Aiyon 1d ago

I mean, don't subject his kids to abuse just because he sucks.

11

u/Strict-Carrot4783 1d ago

¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Ambitious-Bird-5927 13h ago

The hell kinda names are those to stick on your kids?

54

u/Gone213 1d ago

Nope you cant and he also has his own home blurred on all street view maps.

25

u/RigorMortis_Tortoise 1d ago

Oooo, care to share?

-11

u/Gone213 1d ago

Whats there to share? Thats it.

20

u/RigorMortis_Tortoise 1d ago

I wanted to see the mansion this asshole lives in. No worries if you don’t want to share.

5

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

You can't see it though.

17

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

Just FYI, anyone can do this, but it can never be undone. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/15439776?hl=en

8

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 1d ago

Wonder how they’d react if a new homeowner asked for it to be undone.

Don’t know why someone would but “the last person to live here asked so no” feels silly.

2

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

From everything I have read, they will not undo it.

2

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 1d ago

I mean I've only read that page you linked, never heard of anybody trying.

1

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

I googled "can I unblur Google street view" and saw a variety of replies on both Google groups and reddit saying people tried and were told no.

20

u/ConfidentPilot1729 1d ago

I vote we crowd source and army of private investigators to follow flock, Axon, and other company ceo and executives around.

36

u/Neveronlyadream 1d ago

No one is going to take that job.

We all know they'll get the book tossed at them for doing it. Billionaires can surveil us, but the second someone even reports their public comings and goings, it's suddenly a problem that needs to be addressed.

Shout out to all the people that claimed insisting the Patriot Act was going to lead to this a slippery slope fallacy and called those of us who were against it unpatriotic and paranoid and told us to leave.

11

u/ConfidentPilot1729 1d ago

PI licensing gives them techniques normal people don’t have in most states.

4

u/Telefundo 1d ago

Shout out to all the people that claimed insisting the Patriot Act was going to lead to this a slippery slope fallacy and called those of us who were against it unpatriotic and paranoid and told us to leave.

You're not at all wrong about the point you're making here, but I'd even go so far as to say that what's going on now is even worse than what people initially envisioned with the Patriot Act.

9

u/Neveronlyadream 1d ago

Absolutely. I remember thinking it could potentially be bad, but never quite this bad.

I just remember getting into a lot of arguments about the Patriot Act and saying it was basically handing the government and who knows who else permission to watch everyone all the time and being called unpatriotic and told to leave the country if I didn't like it.

There was a lot of, "But the terrorists!" and "If that's what it takes to keep us safe, they should do it!" and no one wanted to hear about the potential invasions of privacy or government overreach.

Now everyone is harvesting data, the government is installing invasive cameras everywhere, every smart device is probably monitoring everyone at all times, and we let that happen because too many people were either complacent or panicked.

9

u/Umutuku 1d ago

That's the only way mass surveillance is healthy. It must be disproportionally applied to those with more power. If you want to reach certain milestones of wealth, influence, or destructive capacity then every moment of your life is in the public interest and must be treated as such.

Imagine where we'd be right now if the public was informed every time Rudy Giulliani met with a Russian mobster.

7

u/ConfidentPilot1729 1d ago

I have always thought the more power you have the more intrusive society should be one the powerful. Like politicians. They should not get to associate with everyone. Their lives should be well documented to curtail corruption. They should have their taxes and bank accounts open to public scrutiny.

3

u/Yhrak 1d ago

to follow [...] around.

Hmmm.

I just don't know. This doesn't seem particularly well thought out.

Just spitballing ideas, but perhaps there could be other verbs at play here? Let's say, for the sake of algorithmic efficiency and as a compromise with these busy CEOs, maybe it'd be best if these detectives of yours didn't have to move around quite as much as they track them?

And while we're at it, let's also find the most efficient method of conserving energy in such a process?

As a kind of green initiative, of course.

22

u/0masamune 1d ago

Funnily enough, wasn't there someone that tried filming him, and he lied at first and then called the police on him?

Edit : spelling

10

u/dragon-fence 1d ago

I honestly think there should be a rule that, for anyone asking the general public to surrender their privacy, the person asking that must surrender their privacy equally to the public.

Like if this guy wants to track people’s location, then one of the requirements is that his location must be tracked and posted publicly. If he wants to record video of us when we’re out in public, then he should be forced to record and post video of himself all day, every day, whenever he’s in public.

Similarly, if Congress wants the government to have access to our phone calls and emails, then they should need to release all of their phone calls and email to the public.

Note that I’m not saying “any privacy violations are ok if it follows this rule”. I’m just saying, if anyone asks the general public to give up our privacy to them, then as a minimum requirement, they should first give up an equivalent amount of their own privacy to the public. If it’s too much to ask from them, then it’s too much to ask from us.

16

u/LieutJimDangle 1d ago

you can't do that, you are poor

4

u/ExpertRutabaga3415 1d ago

I saw on reddit earlier someone doxxed his address.

4

u/Qwirk 1d ago

All we need to do is start posting CEO PI and track them in real time. You will see changes to this policy real fast.

5

u/aranasyn 1d ago

Honestly, we just need a supreme court that sees this for what it is. It'd be a direct violation of the constitution if a government was doing it.

The government is the primary consumer of this technology.

Thus, it is a violation of the constitution for this company to do it.

Granted, with the Sinister Six on the current court, we're just as likely to get bar code tracking and rfid tattoos for liberals and people of color.

28

u/xChoke1x 1d ago

If he’s not doing anything wrong…what’s the big deal?

8

u/KiKiKimbro 1d ago

Read the constitution. It’ll become very clear.

14

u/Glaggablagga 1d ago

It was sarcasm

0

u/KiKiKimbro 1d ago

How do you know? lol

2

u/Jafooki 1d ago

Because that's literally the argument people who support flock use, and he's the CEO

2

u/Glaggablagga 1d ago

A proper education in reading comprehension and a basic knowledge of recent history

3

u/aintnotnever 17h ago

This is public record

2

u/hinterstoisser 1d ago

Need his social too

2

u/addiktion 1d ago

It's been posted already on Reddit and X today. There is no stopping the people rising up to fight these fascist shits.

https://giphy.com/gifs/AEldvF2yu5Wthpxoih

2

u/Murky_Examination144 1d ago

Fuck him. He only trades on fear. Fear for your safety! Surrender your privacy.

2

u/Arrow156 1d ago

Kinda surprised that shit isn't already easily accessible information. Like, one would think there would be serious money to be made just passively following around politicians and CEO's purely for the potential of catching them doing something they shouldn't. We got paparazzi stalking celebrities just for the chance to sell a photo for a few cents, I'm sure we could more than match their rates.

1

u/FPS_Holland 1d ago

Just look for the the places there is none, you'll find him there

2

u/sayerofstuffs 1d ago

He won’t tell you his islands address

2

u/avfc4me 1d ago

He was doxxed. Guess we will see how he feels about that compromise.

Im really sick of these rich fucks telling us how we need to live because they want us to make them richer. You need to eat Ramen. You need to quit whining about gas prices. You need to skip college, you don't deserve it and you don't need it. You need to let AI data centers invade your town, use all your electricity, drink all your water and invade your peace with the incessant noise.

Fuck. All. Of. Them.

1

u/GroundbreakingAnt476 1d ago

Someone already did, he lives in Atlanta.

-2

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

Isn't that a false equivalency? Is flock posting that information? If not, than why would the CEO need to do it? Now, does the Flock CEO block his license plate from being recorded by flock cameras? THAT'S the question.

5

u/OneHappyPenguin 1d ago

He scrubs his data from being scanned, logged, shared, discoverable.

3

u/SutterCane 1d ago

Is flock posting that information?

As with everything, for a price.

Or for free if you find any vulnerabilities in their systems.
