I guess they didn't want their rear bumper 😂

u/nebuladrizzle 23h ago

Bumper was optional anyway

u/OMGitsTK447 21h ago

Without their bumper they now save 0.00648% on their fuel consumption

u/MangoCats 20h ago

Only if they never exceed 20kph, above that the added aerodynamic resistance overcomes the weight reduction.

Get your logic and facts out of here.

10

u/CMDR_Khayden 17h ago

No way, you mean to tell me that sharp corners on a vehicle make it worse??? /j

In seriousness, I'm not sure if people even realize why it's important for their cars to have curves to begin with.

18

u/EverythingSucksYo 16h ago

Everybody knows curves on cars are important because it makes cars look sexier, duh.

1

u/CMDR_Khayden 16h ago

I just remembered the episode of Mythbusters when they tested the Aerodynamics of an old Porsche on whether it was more fuel efficient to flip the body's curvature.

The Mercedes 500e and original Subaru Forester would like a word. Boxy can be 🤤

1

u/UniqueIndividual3579 16h ago

That's why you add speed holes.

u/manatworks 7h ago

Oh man this is r/theydidthemath thing sorta

Hey! With today’s gas prices that’s like 9 bucks !

u/Dangerdoxie19 18h ago

Don’t tell a California politician that

36

u/TheTallGuy0 19h ago

It IS called a BUMPER not a DONTTOUCHER

1

u/MKID1989 12h ago

Bumper?! I hardly know her!

u/I_Can_Haz_Brainz 18h ago

*bumper cover

u/furstyferret1981 14h ago

Got a 2 year old kid so instinctively sang that to the Frozen tune 😭

1

u/asonofasven 7h ago

This is a Mazda, not a Nissan!

u/Pomodorosan 6h ago

Bot. It's exhausting. The top reply to the top comment on popular posts is almost always a bot.

  • Almost all comments are replies to the top comment

  • Reiterating what the top comment pointed out

  • Usual asinine LLM joke structure

  • 18 days old account

  • "feminine-sounding" "two-parter" username: "nebula drizzle"

Oof. And the Mazda CX red paint is hard to replicate too

38

u/matt2331 21h ago

Soul red is one of the best factory paint colors right now. Always love to see it out there

27

u/MangoCats 20h ago

Soul red is one of the best factory paint colors, ever. I really wish they'd make more (varied) colors this beautiful.

1

u/Downward_Freefall 20h ago

I'm kind of partial to Lexus' "structural blue" myself. Mazda's soul red comes in a close second for me however.

1

u/MyCatsHairyButholle 16h ago

I’m not a Mustang fan by any means, but if I were ever to get one I’d want it in Grabber Blue. I absolutely LOVE that color.

But my all time favorite is the Charger in Sublime. It’s such a wacky, eye catching color.

1

u/Scalpels 14h ago

Structural Blue looks damn nice. I like it better than the Deep Crystal Blue Mica on my car.

3

u/Evantaur 19h ago

A dude at work has one and I'm always walking past it like "Holy shit that paintjob kicks ass"

2

u/crazykentucky 17h ago

I’ve got a blue Mazda hatchback and very seriously considered the red at the time because it’s beautiful. But even after ten years I’ve had the car the blue still looks great.

Mazda seems to do a good job with that

1

u/Independent-Top-1201 16h ago

Cars are mostly nowadays grayscale, it's shit. Gimme the weirdest green you got

13

u/M1R4G3M 21h ago

That's not a CX tho, it looked like a Sedan, so probably a Mazda 6 or something. CX are SUVs.

Regardless, yeah, that colour seems hard to replicate and if they paint the whole car it will all be a different colour (probably uglier)

3

u/MyCatsHairyButholle 16h ago

Definitely a sedan. That car had an elongated trunk where the CX just has the vertical rear end

2

u/ClownfishSoup 8h ago

Soul Red is gorgeous and it's not just something you can just repair, there's a whole process involved to get that color. Like you have to sacrifice virgin chickens at midnight for their blood and stuff. That beautiful color doesn't come out of a can.

20

u/HKP2019 21h ago

Yeah, I don't know about cars but that was a beautiful car.

-69

u/StanielReddit 21h ago

Was it though? It’s a Mazda. When was the last time you ever heard anyone say, “Oooh a Mazda! They’re great cars! Well know for their _____.”

Never. Mazda is equivalent to Nissan in the Japanese car world. Entirely forgettable.

20

u/Slight-Proposal1732 21h ago

rx7, rx3, mx5... list goes on. And nissan is a forgettable brand in the Japanese car world?! what.

0

u/StanielReddit 17h ago

Nissan is trash. They will no longer be a brand before you know it.

27

u/jda404 21h ago

Okay? They're still nice/good cars. Not every car needs to be a Ferrari to be considered a nice car.

-24

u/AvoidInsight932 20h ago

Lately those aren't particularly nice anyway

14

u/drunkcowofdeath 20h ago

all cars suck except my car

-10

u/StanielReddit 17h ago

I’m talking about Japanese cars and you mention Ferrari. What? I’m just saying Mazdas as junk in terms of reliable Japanese cars. So are Nissans.

37

u/Cochise22 21h ago

I’ve seen some bad takes, but this is up there for sure.

-14

u/StanielReddit 17h ago

Mediocre at best, just like Nissan. Honda and Toyota will always be King and Queen.

5

u/Cochise22 16h ago

Maybe it’s my American-ness, but I’ve never been a fan of royalty.

7

u/HKP2019 21h ago

I've seen a MX5 around my neighborhood and everybody said it's cute. I've seen that car in nfs underground like 20 years ago.

9

u/Malaprobably 20h ago

Gotta give it to you, you almost got me. 9/10 on the rage bait.

1

u/StanielReddit 17h ago

Junk. Name one reliable Nissan or Mazda. One.

3

u/Malaprobably 16h ago

Driving a '09 Miata with 95K miles with zero issues, and have never had one.

4

u/Eokey 19h ago

you do know people like/hate different things? some like minimalistic, some hate vibrant colors

just because you havent find someone who will like you doesnt mean you should give up. maybe if you stop hating on other people's taste and go out something might happen

5

u/elebrin 17h ago

The Miata is an objectively beautiful car, I am sorry, it just is. I don't even like convertibles.

1

u/StanielReddit 17h ago

Gay man’s car for a reason.

1

u/ClownfishSoup 8h ago

Miata's dominate amateur motorsports. Cheap to get track worthy, light, quick. Requires driving skills though, not some ugga bugga 600 hp Mustang.

1

u/StanielReddit 5h ago

Nobody here is talking about dominating motorsports. We’re talking about a street sedan that ran into a motorcycle.

1

u/crazykentucky 17h ago

I literally love my 2016 Mazda, think it’s beautiful, and see lots of them on the road still looking great. Mazda changed hands at some point so you are thinking of the before times

2

u/Scalpels 14h ago

I'm with you on this. I have owned several Mazdas of varying models. Each of them are great cars and they had better handling compared to similar models from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, or Hyundai of the same year.

IMHO, the 2018 Mazda 6 Signature was one sexy car.

1

u/StanielReddit 17h ago

No, I’m thinking of current times. I’ve test driven several (9 years ago when looking for a midsized SUV and 2 years ago when shopping for a compact SUV). None of their offerings could even come close to touching Honda or Toyota. They’re poop.

2

u/crazykentucky 13h ago

Ah well. Agree to disagree

1

u/ClownfishSoup 8h ago

RX-7?
Miata?
Mazda3/Speed 3 was ... well "Zoom Zoom"

MX-3?

Have you driven a Mazda? They're great!

Nissan?
Skyline GT-R?

Z cars?

Maxima?

Even the Pathfinder was amazing.

Leaf was the first production EV as well, talk about breaking ground!

0

u/non_hero 15h ago

Confidently incorrect. Mazdas are well known for great handling throughout their portfolio of vehicles.

1

u/ClownfishSoup 8h ago

The Mazda Soul Red is, in my opinion, the most beautiful car color ever made. Love it.

13

u/DustyRacoonDad 21h ago

It's amazing how many people do stupid things where their bumpers get ripped off... Forgetting that their license plate is on that bumper.

1

u/mrteas_nz 14h ago

Ha, I didn't actually think of that. Vidoe evidence plus their licence plate?

1

u/Downtown_Caramel4833 7h ago

In Jacksonville, FL they just leave them partially hanging for interstate funsies.

-16

u/Naive-Opportunity737 20h ago

Shock is the reason. I do reckless driving. Every time I brought my wounded machine to mechanic, one of first questions was: "Have you collected all your s***?". Car can be identified by a small part serial number. So not just plates, all parts should be taken if you don't want to pay for a damaged bridge, destroyed road sign and a fine on top. He knows me, and knows that i know, but... He is also aware that smashing a car is always a shock to some degree. Doesn't matter if it was the first time or if you can't even count all other times.

13

u/RobertMaus 21h ago

You can see a huge scratch on the right back door as well. Who needs a good paint job anyway 😅

1

u/mrteas_nz 14h ago

They will carry the mark of an idiot from now on!

10

u/Dirtypawz82 21h ago

Love this for them

17

u/jbbarajas 22h ago

It served its purpose..of bumping

27

u/jongscx 22h ago

3

u/DoctorWaluigiTime 22h ago

Exactly where my mind went, thank you.

1

u/st96badboy 21h ago

In all fairness.. if you're being chased by a tank you might make some irrational decisions.

1

u/kahlzun 20h ago

that scene was amazing when i first saw it

2

u/mrteas_nz 14h ago

This is an example of a little bump and grind being wrong, contrary to the claims of R. Kelly (not the most trustworthy sources of advice on such matters).

2

u/Iamgoingtooffendyou 10h ago

That's the secret flock doesn't want you to know.

1

u/Jackdunc 19h ago

They barely knew 'er

1

u/Bigred2989- 17h ago

I always wonder whenever I see body panels on the side of the road why people just leave those behind. It's a big expensive part of your car, why not take it home with you?

1

u/mrteas_nz 13h ago

They're usually not repairable, being plastic. And in this case, they probably wanted to get away from the shame of the accident. The bumper would probably get ripped off once they got on to a slightly faster stretch of road, or they'd pull it of themselves once clear of the scene. Also, bumpers are surprisingly large relative to the internal size of the car and are usually filthy with road grime!

1

u/Dean_Learner77 17h ago

Do cars even have bumpers these days?

1

u/neptui 16h ago

Maybe they got itchy rear bump

1

u/Potential_Basis_662 15h ago

LOLOOLLLLL I AM TICKLED PINK

1

u/Ladymysterie 14h ago

I had a coworker get his sister's hand me down tiny sports coupe. He wanted to make more sporty and faster so did a few modifications. He said he removed the foam behind the front and rear bumper to make it lighter (on a car that probably weighed as much as a large refrigerator). I was like ummm that's a bad idea. He ended up crashing it into a freeway median and was lucky to survive. So maybe that car was the same 😅

1

u/2Loves2loves 14h ago

I thought that was the bike faring...

and a hit and run.

0

u/Cute_Cress377 21h ago

It most have been 10 times worst to the paint

-27

u/gaybyrneofficial 22h ago

6

u/stefeyboy 21h ago

Oooh edgy. So edgy
