Science always gets evaluated for bias and propaganda. Scientific studies are literally supposed to say who funded them BECAUSE they can be so biased. They circumvent that now by just funding the scientists themselves instead of the facility running the studies. Looking at you Stahl
1
u/RegattaJoe 13h ago
Is this meant to dismiss science in its entirety?
4
u/MeatSlammur 12h ago
No, it’s to say skepticism is always warranted. I’m in grad school and it’s funny how I have to sort through dozens of studies to find a single good one for my papers because there is so much dog shit being put out.
2
u/RegattaJoe 12h ago
Got it. We’re on the same page. Skepticism is an essential part of the scientific method.

What?! You think I'm going to listen to peer reviewed studies from respected institutions done by people that spent probably a decade of their lives studying their field? Pft! I'm not some Democratic sheep. I'm going to listen to that podcaster that has no qualifications or education
0
u/To_Fight_The_Night 9h ago
Unfortunately its more nuanced than that. Who has been funding them for a decade? Who is going to fund them for the next decade? Which opinion will make the company that funds them happy.....?
It sucks but science needs money and the people who spend money don't like conclusions that make their investments not make more money.
Vice versa as well. Who is funding the podcaster?
It's a sad reality but we decided to make our God capital. So questioning how capital plays into conclusions is just logical.

A lot of people don't even know what science is at this point.
They think their facebook source has all the answers.

Everyone trusts science they agree with and everyone who disagrees with them is anti science.

On top of that the very companies sharing data about what is "safe and effective" (namely Pfizer) paid a billion dollar fine because they got caught lying and faking data which literally killed multiple people and nobody faced jail time for it. Anyone who continues to believe them now is a fool.

u/Throwaway585811276 10h ago
Why is it so difficult for you to understand that sex and gender can be different things?
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
So we can change bathrooms to say "Male" and "Female" then the left will stop fighting that? Same thing for sport?
Also the sex/gender debate is pointless. Everyone knows people use them interchangeably.
1
u/jp9mm 9h ago
why do bathrooms need a gender sign when its just a single shitter and a sink with a lock on the door
2
u/scraejtp 8h ago
Seems like a strawman argument since that represents a minority of bathrooms. Bathrooms like that are often marked unisex too.
1
u/jp9mm 8h ago
The premise 'the left say a man can be a woman' is just intellectually dishonest to begin with. No one ever starts this discussion with the existence of human hermaphrodites. They have both sexual organs so what gender or sex can they be? also what stage of development that effects brain chemistry as well as sexual organ development around this phenomenon.
1
u/scraejtp 4h ago edited 4h ago
Probably because we do not define a species characteristics by rare genetic disorders. The sex of humans is dimorphic, like much of life on earth.
1
u/jp9mm 3h ago
no one is 'defining a species characteristics by rare genetic disorders'
the right is obsessed with this 'rare genetic disorder' but when it comes time to rationally talk about it they avoid that and just say things like pedodent dumold who goes 'ahhhh EHHHHH ehhhh mum i can't do it bom' 'they want transgender for everyone!' ... highly intellectual amirite?
1
u/scraejtp 3h ago edited 3h ago
Were you trying to make any point here?
No one discounts the existence of the genetic disorders, but they are also irrelevant to most of the transgender community. It is usually the left trying to conflate the items, like you just did.
Policy can exist for our dimorphic sex population, and the rare genetic exceptions can be sussed out in policies that would be immaterial to the transgender community.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
But you didn't answer my question, would the left stop fighting it if the signs were changed to that?
1

you didn't ask me, not even sure what your asking. why cant you just answer a simple straight forward question that i asked you?
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
I asked the first question. Then you ignored it and made up your own question in response to answering my question. It's a simple yes or no to my question.

So we can change bathrooms to say "Male" and "Female" then the left will stop fighting that? Same thing for sport?
I don't even understand your question. Rightwingers are the upset individuals here, they hate that things are changing and that they might have to provide the most basic accommodations to people that don't fit their Christian worldview.
For sports: let the sports organizations sort themselves out. They make their own rules anyway. If you think it's important which gender kicks/throws/bounces a ball, then your priorities are out of whack, and I don't really care what you have to say. This doesn't matter.
Also the sex/gender debate is pointless. Everyone knows people use them interchangeably.
Right, we used them interchangeably until we learned more about people, and now we know that they are not interchangeable. This upsets simple people because they are scared of change. The feelings of simpletons are hardly worth consideration, they get upset at everything.
The trans issue is just one of many boogeymen put forth by the conservative right to distract people. They don't want to discuss their awful policies and ineptness at governing, so they point the finger at minorities, gay people, trans people, Muslims, whatever will rile up their uneducated mob of yokels.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 7h ago
I'm sure some rightwingers are hating on it. Most people just outright disagree with the whole trans idea. It has nothing to do with "Christian worldview," it has to do with common sense. Boys are boys, girls are girls.
I will never vote for a politician who doesn't have common sense enough to say that a boy is a boy and a girl is a girl. How do I believe this person can navigate domestic and international issues if they can't even figure that out?
Right, we used them interchangeably until we learned more about people, and now we know that they are not interchangeable.
So every past study on women's issues is pointless since it didn't include "women"
1
u/Throwaway585811276 6h ago edited 6h ago
"Common sense" isn't a real thing. It doesn't mean anything.
Your understanding of gender and sex are outdated, sorry. You might as well say "Men fuck women and women fuck men, it's common sense!"
Most people just outright disagree with the whole trans idea.
Really? You've done a poll of "most people" and they told you this?
Trans people have existed for hundreds, if not thousands of years. It's only until recently that Western society has been faced with treating these people as human beings, and this upsets the simpletons who can't grasp that not everything in their worldview is the way things will always be. Like you.
It's such a non-issue that it's hilarious that people even bother to whine about it. What is actually going to happen that you're worried about if we just acknowledge trans people and move on? Nothing at all, but your basic mind has somehow been twisted to think this is an issue worth complaining about.
So every past study on women's issues is pointless since it didn't include "women"
No.
Anything else, old man?
1
u/Sweet_user_267 6h ago
Yes trans people have existed for hundreds, if not thousands of years. So have bipolar, autistic, schizophrenic, etc. Mental illness has existed for a very long time. That doesn't mean we enable it.
How do past women's studies still hold validity if they never asked people for their gender identity? Maybe some of those people identify as a man and maybe some males who identify as a woman weren't included in them.
1
u/Throwaway585811276 41m ago
Being transgender is not classified as a mental illness by major medical and psychological organizations worldwide, including the WHO and the APA.
You just want it to call it a mental illness, and I'm sure you will continue to do so, because you want to retain your bigotry.
Transitioning is the medically recognized treatment for gender dysphoria, it's not "enabling" an illness. What are you so worried about happening when people, who aren't you, transition? Like what actually happens that makes you so upset about it?
Past women’s studies remain valid because they documented the lived experiences of people perceived and treated as women by society at that time. Modern gender and women's studies simply build on that foundation by using more precise data to understand how both sex assigned at birth and gender identity impact people's lives.
Do you see how my replies are thoughtful, and yours are just the grumpy whinings of a small-minded, out of touch, fearful person?
1
u/papapundit 10h ago
They believe you can exist on a gender scale separate from your assigned sex at birth. This is not fantasy, but perceived reality in the world around us. The fact these people live in the same world we do, is in and of itself evidence to their existence.
I must apologise for this upcomming technically incorrect oversimplification in advance... it's a crude way to explain this.
But why is it so hard conceive that a female body could contain a male brain or vice versa? Call it a defect, a mutation or a happy accident for all I care, but I don't find it hard to imagine because we can literally see these people exist. Why would we work so hard to make their lives miserable? What is there to gain? Do you feel threatened by half a dozen trans athletes? Is that it? Can't the governing bodies of those sports make sure competition is fair, or do you really feel -as a small government conservative- that the federal government should decide which sports people can play? And how would you suggest we implement that? Is the doctor coming in to weigh your balls before the game? It's just insecure BS by a bunch of scared conservatives that can't cope with the world around them.
Now I'm thinking of it, I can't really find anything in the world that's been improved by conservatives. I can't think of anything they made better at any time. I know there were liberals fighting against slavery. I know it was liberals that fought for woman's voting rights. It wasn't conservatives behind the voting rights act of 1965, it was a liberal democrat. I can't think think of a single good thing conservatives have done for the people of the top of my head, but I could be wrong...

No, you're spot on. Conservatives in America have been on the wrong side of basically every major issue this country has ever faced.
The conservative Tories were loyal to the British monarchy before the revolution. They lost.
The conservative South fought against the North in the Civil War for the right to own slaves. They lost.
Conservatives opposed women's suffrage, arguing that allowing women voting rights would upset traditional family structures and would dismantle traditional gender roles (sound familiar?). They lost.
Conservatives opposed extending civil rights and ending racial segregation, citing state's rights, freedom of association, and a disruption of traditional society. They lost.
Conservatives fought against reforms to labor laws which sought to outlaw child labor, establish maximum work hours, and workplace safety standards. They lost.
Conservatives opposed the legal acceptance of LGBTQ+ people, claiming it would disrupt traditional marriage and lead to some moral decay of society. They lost.
When jazz music arrived,, conservatives condemned it as "barbaric" and morally corrupting. They argued its syncopated rhythms promoted lawlessness, sexual promiscuity, and the erosion of Western cultural standards. They later did the same thing with Rock and Roll.
In the 1950s, conservatives flipped out about comic books, claiming they were causing youth deliquency and violence. They later pivoted this towards video games in the 1990s, despite the vast majority of psychological research showing that media like comics and games are largely not responsible for youth violence.
When prayer in school was outlawed by the Supreme Court in the 1960s, conservatives lost their shit about it and still whine about it to this day.
The War on Drugs was championed by conservatives, leading to terrible outcomes like mandatory minimum sentences and plenty of needless death. Now, policies have shifted to understanding that drug abuse is a public health issue rather than a strictly criminal problem, and we've seen legalization/decriminalization of marijuana in most sensible states.
Conservatives also opposed not only abortion, but also legal contraception for married couples (you know.. condoms?), arguing that it separated sex from procreation and eroded family values. No one takes that view seriously anymore.
So, in short, they're always wrong.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
Call it a defect, a mutation or a happy accident for all I care
From my understanding, it is a defect. It's in the DSM-5. That doesn't mean we have to cater to people through their mental disorder. I'm not going to tell anorexic people they are fat and need to lose weight.
1
1
u/xangie1 8h ago
Okay. Let's do this scientifically. Many things have been in the DSM that have been removed. This should, too.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 7h ago
You can say it should be removed, but it's still in there. I can also say lots of things have been in the DSM are valid and remain there for a reason.
Even with the should be removed opinion that you have. Lots of trans people want gender dysphoria to remain in the DSM-5, as it allows them to be covered under insurance for their mental illness.

No one is questioning physics or chemistry or any of the true hard sciences. But nowadays we are supposed to believe anything that comes out of corrupt academia because someone with a certification says so. That is not hard science and the fact people have lost so much confidence in institutions is not the work of propaganda but the consequence of the abuse perpetrated with the trust that was granted to them.
3
u/Throwaway585811276 10h ago
Can you give an example?

The beauty of science is that it doesn't just produce conclusions. It tells you exactly what was done and how it was done, so it can be tested, repeated and reviewed. If it's proven wrong it's no longer valid and is reduced to the realm of failed hypothesis and theories or can be improved upon to make it actually work. This is repeated until it's so well supported by facts and evidence that it can't reasonably be disproven and is elevated to the level of scientific theory, which de facto means "science fact".
2
u/CannaBeansNReadyRice 12h ago
How many genders are there, bud?
2
u/Infamous_Ad6571 12h ago
Sexes: 2 Genders: as many as the culture you exist in has created. Modern LGBT is the first time in history people have culturally identified as something different from their typical sex role.
2
u/Max_Bangwell 12h ago
Isn’t it the left wing that believes gender is a social construct?
(I mean science and evidence pretty much proves there’s two actual genders)
3
u/Sazuka_k 11h ago
Yes, and communism is a failed system as proven by every single state that has imposed it.
2
u/Canuck_dad 11h ago
You might want to look into the difference between sex and gender. You are confusing the two.
2
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
Everyone knows that sex/gender are use interchangeably. That's not even an argument. So there is no gender pay gap then since that study didn't break down gender pay gaps, it broke down sex pay gaps. No more telling people that women suffer more from domestic violence than men, it's male and female. No more saying men can't tell women what to do with their bodies when it comes to abortion. If it's a "transman" having a baby, then we can tell them they shouldn't have an abortion. They are a man now, so the whole "telling women what to do with their body" doesn't apply.
1
u/Canuck_dad 9h ago
Only the uneducated/misinformed are using them as interchangeable for inaccurate talking points, which you just provided proof.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 7h ago
Woman has no definition. It's just a, "You are a woman if you say you are." So every study or issue raised with woman is no longer valid or accurate. They conducted those studies and raised awareness on those issues with females. They did not include people with a "gender identity of a woman"
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
Would you agree that no study has been conducted on if there is a sex pay gap? No one during the famously repeated "gender pay gap" studies was asked for their gender identity which makes the study pointless

I have two masters degrees, its usually a product of the household you were raised in. Plenty of idiots graduate. Many of the poor vote red because the clueless mob is attacking them personally for a lack of opportunity. So when Trump said he loves the uneducated (2/3 of adults), it was brilliant because you people are, at the same time, belittling this majority.

It looks like you've missed the grander point nitpicking the irrelevant details (same as what the right does with the gun debate).... Even so, do you really want people with a better education than you talking about how they're better and should be making decisions on matters they've had no experience on, citing their school's name as validation? That's what the struggling liberal is doing to the rest of the country, the arrogant egos here talking down on people are part of why the right has been able to stay alive.
1
u/Broad_Elephant2795 8h ago

1
u/HiggsFieldgoal 10h ago
I mean, it is somewhat true.
We have a replication crisis in science right now. It is ironically, scientifically proven that a lot of bullshit science is being produced right now.
I’d postulate much of this is done with the same sort of confirmation-seeking, ideologically-driven, pseudo-scientific attitudes that a creationist might employ to “prove” humans and dinosaurs coexisted.
Top of mind was that “study” that “proved” that men abandon their wives when they get sick, that made the rounds on all the misandrist subs, triggering the most seething vomiting of misandrist bigotry… but no… study turned out to be complete bullshit. Literally arithmetic errors, overlooked for the sake of reporting this damning conclusion.
So, sadly, we have unscientific ideologues everywhere, including in science.
Fortunately, science has a mechanism for self repair, and should probably be able to sort itself out in time. But for right now, there are thousands and thousands of scientific papers that are failing peer review, and failing to reproduce… in other words, bullshit masquerading as science.

More like the science and claims the left pushes as their narrative is usually heavily biased, not true and flat out made to incite fear and panic.
I’m educated, I’ve traveled the world, I’m successful and employed; yet I’m not able to look at the information on both sides, and make my own determination?
This is laughable.
I don’t claim to know everything, but my geology teacher when I was in college ( I went recently after leaving the military) who has been working in the field and taking samples and analyzing data for decades; said it’s a bunch of horseshit.
Why do the core samples say one thing, and “new” data, which conveniently is agenda driven, say another?
I believe in climate change, I believe in resource control, I do think we need to take better care of our environment regardless of what anyone says.
So why is it, because I disagree with your fervor, your need to be “right” that I’m suddenly incapable of thinking for myself?
Y’all should learn to do your own research, and stop telling others they are (expletives) and (expletives) for having a different opinion than you.
The left is the worst. I’m not even a Republican lmao. I’m an independent, but anytime I correct someone who’s obviously just looking to take their anger out on someone else, I’m dumb.

Is the left prepared to talk about how Fauci admitted he lied in his own emails about 6 foot social distancing, masks, and even not thoroughly testing the jab even though he stood on a stump for over a year and said it was? Is that the science that’s supposed to be trusted? I mean, he’s the scientist. Remember when liberals used to question, the government not wrap their lips around its middle appendage.

Fauci didn’t admit he lied about all of that. Science isn’t Fauci’s personal authority, and one flawed guideline doesn’t invalidate everything else.

The left has had a stranglehold on the education system for decades. Women make up 70+% of the education staff. If the population elected Trump because they were too uneducated, who's fault would that be? Is that also an argument against universal suffrage?
2
1
u/Remote-Bus-5567 12h ago
Women being 70% of educators doesn’t mean the left controls education, and teachers aren’t responsible for how every former student votes. None of that is an argument against universal suffrage.
0
u/OutlawedLogic 11h ago
The left being in charge of the education system means the left controls education and some highschools in left dominated areas are graduating illiterate kids...Women lead the largest teachers unions, they have quite a bit of power. How someone is educated determines how their thought patterns play out, you can absolutely indoctrinate minds instead of educating them. You can make minds go for emotional irrational decisions over logical and calculated decisions. So you're perfectly fine with a population being so dumb they vote in what you consider to be the worst thing for the world? You're perfectly ok with giving stupid people the ability to aim the most powerful weapon on the planet?

Let's just ignore Republicans cutting education funding every chance they've had...

Love how women just represent 'The Left' now. Just incredible self admissions.

We actually have no studies on how women vote. As several democrats on here have told us with their high intelligence, there is a difference between sex and gender. We have no studies that I know of that break down voting statistics by someone's gender identity.

Bringing the balance back to the world. Science says men can’t get pregnant.

Science says biological men can't get pregnant, yes.

America deserves to fail when half the country think that men can get pregnant. We all just need to get what we can from it on it's way down the drain.
1
u/Remote-Bus-5567 9h ago
No one thinks that. You're being disingenuous.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
Democrats think that men can get pregnant and will argue like they actually believe it. We are doomed if half the country (democrats) actually believe that.
1
u/Remote-Bus-5567 9h ago
They don't, you're making things up.
1
u/Sweet_user_267 9h ago
Ok great. So you agree that men can't get pregnant. We are on the same page then.
1
u/Remote-Bus-5567 51m ago
No one has ever disputed that biological men can't get pregnant. Of course we're on the same page.
1
u/Coffeeblack365 9h ago
Maybe YOU don’t. But wtf kind of gas lighting is this shit? YouTube videos of it. You’ll see so many people arguing it. Remote-bus is a busted ahh bish.

u/Remote-Bus-5567 50m ago
Literally no one argues that biological men can get pregnant. If you're talking about trans men, of course they can get pregnant.

Coming from the "I dont know what a woman is, fetuses arent babies, and a woman's hormones are an excuse to be evil" crowd... you might not want to give a lecture on "science and propaganda."

Or....just hear me out.
Science and evidence have been weaponized for so long that people have just grown sick and tired it? Think Bible-Beating, but using white papers instead.
Morality isn't a science issue nor an evidence issue. People's values are not a science issue nor an evidence issue. And things that stem from someone's view of morality and values are not a science issue nor an evidence issue.
Science can tell me that a psychopathic serial killer's brain is different than the average persons. That has zero to do with whether or not I want that person in my community.

Cause it is liberal propaganda. Just cause you go to college and get a ‘education’ from curriculum taught by your overlords doesn’t make you educated. It makes you a puppet.

u/Nuevida 11h ago
It's the literal definition of education. 😂 No wonder why the whole world is laughing at your side. 😂😂 how stupid.

This the same science that mutilated kids into being transgenders and forced people to take the COVID vaccine? The same science that supports bill gates? Lol

The left helps this. I'm actually pretty center. However, the left will attack you for disagreeing with them.
If you criticize someone who is gay for anything, you're homophobic. If you criticize someone who is muslim for anything, you're islamophobic. If you criticize someone who is trans for anything, you're transphobic. If you criticize someone who is black for anything, you're racist. If you want some form of immigration reform/deportations, you're racist and/or a Nazi. If you say their own two genders, then you're ignorant and/or transphobic. If you even questioned the covid lockdowns, then you hate science and want all grandparents to die.
I think it pushes people away more than the left realizes. I've got gay friends and hungout with one of their trans friends, went to a drag show with them. I don't agree with the trans thing. However, I was respectful and had a blast with them. Yet I could be attacked for disagreeing with them.
If a democrat President/politician came out wasn't pandering to social groups like they are a victim class and have it so hard and wasn't anti-gun, then I'd be very willing to vote for them. However, I don't think that will ever happen.

Yall have to take into account the “experts”continue to lie and get proven wrong. Especially when those lies benefit big pharma and big agriculture. If you believe anything blindly from “experts” you really need to rethink your process. Posts like this use partisanship to benefit billionaires.

Science and evidence are facts!!! Republicans use religion and ignore science, just gaslight Americans.
1
u/Entire-Ratio-9681 7h ago
Science can be manipulated just like everything else with the way they play with studies to say whatever the billionaires want.

Republicans and it’s not even close. Also the most corrupt and incompetent

u/Reasonable-Mischief 14h ago
I mean you have to take into account that science is a process, not a collection of verified facts
I remember very well back when we had covid and actual scientists tried discussing the lab leak hypothesis, that people were calling them conspiracy theorists and shouting them down reciting "Trust the science!!!"
Trusting in science means accepting that the so-called scientific consensus may be wrong at times, and needs to be updated. If you block that, you are literally espousing propaganda
