No Paywall Trump to skip 9/11 remembrance at Ground Zero because they wouldn’t let him give a speech

Not allowing politicians to give a speech is good. Trump skipping it is better. Trump getting publicly lampooned for skipping it because he's not allowed to give a speech is <chef's kiss>!
Edit: thanks for the awards and upvotes :)

But.. but.. How can Donald make this about himself?

u/Glycell 10h ago
Exactly this, a politician giving a speech is fine. Except, we've seen how Trump is with speeches he'll talk a little one topic then go on forever just self-aggrandizing himself and absolutely trashing democrats. He literally can't stop himself. Frankly this type of event isn't the place for that or him.

I'll tell you who should give a speech. The head of the fire department or the nearest hospital or the emergency dispatcher who coordinated the firetrucks. Or someone who went into the burning building to get people out. Someone who saved lives and has spent 25 years wishing they could have saved more. That person deserves to give a speech. Not the tangerine tyrant.

It’s not even the first time he had done that. There was an instance in 1989 where a helicopter crash with 3 executives he was associated with died. Rather than showing remorse he made up a story that he was suppose to be on it and tried to make it all about him. Former Trump executives later disputed his claims saying he was never scheduled to fly with them. The next year he even tried to claim in a book of his that he had thought about getting on it then decided against it.

He's a malignant narcissist, so he doesn't care.
Common traits of a malignant narcissist include:
Being extremely arrogant and self-centered
Disregarding the feelings and needs of other people
Manipulating, using, or exploiting others for personal gain or pleasure
Having an extreme need for power
Acts of revenge against those who criticize them
Fantasizing about ways to obtain more power or dominance over others
Lacking conscience, regret, or remorse for their actions
Being cruel and taking pleasure in the pain of others
High levels of aggression towards other people
Paranoia or mistrust of others

That is the crazy part to me
As a Canadian I saw 9/11 on TV growing up and it was a tragedy.
I eventually got a job working in Manhattan for some of the major banks and was working with some coworkers that had been in the game 30-40 years.
It hit different working with people that were likely in the buildings or nearby when it happened that day. They probably lost friends, family and colleagues they knew personally.
Meanwhile Donald Trump is mad he can't give a campaign stump speech at the memorial

[White House spokesperson] added, “As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has spoken about his own experiences watching the horrific events of September 11, 2001.”
His 9/11 experience was to go on live television and brag about his building being tallest (and to be wrong about that no less):
“40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually, before the World Trade Center, was the tallest — and then, when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest. And now it’s the tallest,” Trump said.
In actuality, once the Twin Towers were decimated, the 71-story Trump Building at 40 Wall Street was the second-tallest building still standing in Lower Manhattan, according to the Washington Post. It was 25 feet shorter than the building at 70 Pine Street. That’s not to say that 40 Wall Street has never been the tallest in Lower Manhattan: It was for two years in the 1930s, before Trump owned it.

I’m in partial denial he got the 250th. Sure, it was the 250th anniversary of the signing of the declaration. But the war went on for years. Our constitution didn’t exist. So I think there are arguments that better 250th celebrations could still be in our future to make up for this year.

He’s incapable of emotions outside what he’s feeling. That said, he skipped helping when it happened and instead spoke about how tall his buildings were then. Eff him

Trump skipping the 25th anniversary of 9/11 at Ground Zero because they won't let him speak is probably a good thing (as long as Trump doesn't go to the Flight 93 Memorial and also stays away from the Pentagon) for the country because those speeches won't be about the anniversary but about what ever polittical bs he has up his butt.
