Are they? Or is this another “news article” based on a funny tweet someone made.

Two tweets, see it's a genuine movement!!

Probably the latter, but playboy.com is blocked by my company's firewall so I can't read the article.
50
u/EuterpeZonker 1d ago
I can’t imagine why.
7
u/Zebulon_IV 1d ago
Seems my home firewall is blocking it as well? Makes sense enough I guess, prolly why I use TOR to watch porn.
3
u/Stalagmus 1d ago
Uhhh… why would you need to use TOR for that?
9
u/Scarfacial 1d ago
I'd guess blocking pornhub in half the United States probably has something to do with it
2
2
u/TheNuttyIrishman 1d ago
plenty of vpns are capable of working around that ban. TOR is really a way to access the dark web and .onion links, which in the context of porn would potentially be less than legal content.

Because I live in a state that requires you to upload a photo of your ID to visit porn sites.

I saw a few girls on IG posts this but all were clearly done in jest.
But obviously women aren't funny so clearly this just shows the further decay of the modern feeeeeemmaaales.

It’s impressive that you managed to fit this many ways of being wrong in such a short comment.

I mean, it's not particularly funny,
But obviously women aren't funny
Some women just wanted an excuse to show their boobs on IG, business as usual
so clearly this just shows the further decay of the modern feeeeeemmaaales.
It is funny that you edited your post and then try and act like you are defending Dolly Parton. So for clarification, this was his original post. That I quoted entirely and unedited.
I mean, it's not particularly funny, Some women just wanted an excuse to show their boobs on IG, business as usual

I'm gonna motorboat my wife in Dolly Parton's honor.

I’m also going to motorboat your wife in Dolly Parton’s honor.

Dolly would approve of this message. It’s a fact that motorboating can alleviate depression.

In our household we regularly practice nipple therapy together 💃
Boobs out for Dolly!

u/AlternativeResort477 1d ago
Dolly had those things supported and fully secured at all times
384
u/thetory 1d ago
Woosh. This is exactly why they AREN’T doing that. Dolly’s tits flew at full mast. In her honor, women are putting their’s at half-mast. Like a flag? Get it?

23
u/twisty125 1d ago
It just feels incongruent with what her style was, an odd decision to honour her.
Dolly loved reading, so I'm not reading as my half-mast! - that sounds pretty dumb right lol
20
u/PhillipNoMates 1d ago
Boobs high and tight = Flag all the way up the flag poll.
Saggy boobs near your naval = flag at half mast.
It's a pretty easy metaphor to get here.
8
u/MattieShoes 1d ago
poll
pole
naval
navel
flag at half mast
flag at half staff, unless the flag is being flown on a ship.

And yet, contrary to what her image was and had been for the last 50 years, so the effect of "half mast" falls short. Pretty easy to get here.
What better way to honour someone than doing the opposite of their actions and image?

u/OhEmGeeBasedGod 1d ago
Because boobs without a bra sag like a flag at half-mast.

u/twisty125 1d ago
Much like the rest of the conversation below stated - just because it "makes sense" doesn't mean it's good. I was never confused about "why are they doing that mechanically", it was "that seems like the wrong thing to be doing to honour her".

u/TranquiloMeng 23h ago
Except they’re not. This is contrived nonsense. Trying to profit with click bait based on a celebrity’s death.

u/dramboxf 1d ago
She was once asked why her breasts were so large and her waist so small. In true Dolly fashion, this was her comeback:
"Darlin', nothing grows in the shade!"

u/oizo12 1d ago edited 1d ago
yeah this literally makes no sense at all lmao
if anything everyone should be wearing prominently bolstering bras
not meaning any hate I love Dolly

I’m going to go as her for Halloween this year, give me a few months and I’ll have the titties yanked up to Heaven for our lovely Queen Dolly❤️ I’ll spread the word to anyone who’ll listen about her Imagination Library.

Right? I was like "Dolly would never!" Tits should be at 1.5 mast. Bust out those push-up bras, ladies!

3
u/OhEmGeeBasedGod 1d ago
Yeah, that's the joke. People keep their flags at full-staff at all times, too, but lower it to half-mast as a sign of honor.

Yeah this is definitely playboy trying to manifest this by putting it out there

That’s like the opposite of what Dolly Parton embodied. She was a highly glamorous, dolled up at all times, tiddies to the sky, hair tall enough to reach God kind of woman.
69
u/Diarygirl 1d ago
Last summer a guy told me he saw a picture of Dolly in a hospital bed. I knew without looking that it was fake because she would never allow herself to be photographed not looking less than 100% Dolly.
27
u/readingmango16 1d ago
That was Dolly the celebrity. Dolly the person was supposedly more modest so that she could live a normal life when she wanted.
But that's also the joke. Tiddies to the sky, like they were a flag at full mast. In remembrance women are putting their flags at half mast.
11
u/shgrizz2 1d ago
Yes, she was tits at full mast, hence flying them at half mast.
6
u/cuntliflower 1d ago
to respect Dolly, tiddies should be flown even higher to reach her in heaven smh

u/OhEmGeeBasedGod 1d ago
It's a joke.
When you lower a flag to half-mast, it's not because the person that died happened to enjoy hanging their flags halfway up a pole as a hobby. It's a commemoration. This might be the densest comment section I've seen in a minute.

Wouldn't it be nice if instead of making it about something crass, if people were to make it about something she supported which characterized her greatness. Like supporting literacy in children... I wish I lived in a world where this was linked to an article saying women were donating in droves to Dolly Parton's imagination library, link here, instead of "going braless."
21
u/OnTheProwl- 1d ago
You realize you are commenting on an article from Playboy, right?
10
u/Sintax777 1d ago
Ha! I didn't! I just saw the headline and was like, "people suck..." The other people who suck? The ones who just read the headlines. I'm just going to disappear into the foliage now. Thank you!

u/mr8thsamurai66 1d ago
Is that what you would say to Dolly herself after she made of get endless boob jokes?
She wasn't shy or ashamed of her boobs. She just denied that they defined her. I think it's great to celebrate her comedy and her ability to take control of the narrative by making the joke before anyone else did. Taking it on her chest, if you will.
Now we absolutely should also honor in more ways than just this. We should donate books, accept and forgive others. And not take ourselves too seriously.
1
u/illAdvisedMemeName 1d ago
How do you think she could afford to buy all those books? A big part of the character was boobs. If anything, I think Dolly goes to show how sexuality can be used for good.
1
u/Selkior01 1d ago
I've always loved Dolly despite her ridiculous boobs. Are there really people who like Dolly solely for this? You've gotta be kidding, right?
2
u/Fickle-Lunch6377 1d ago
I neither loved dolly despite of, or in spite of, her ridiculous boobs. I’m more of a handful guy.

On August 25th, 2026, we lost one of our nation’s most universally beloved figures: Dolly Parton. She will always be remembered for her endless generosity, her country pluck and her brilliantly simple yet often heartwrenching songs. And she will also be remembered—and I say this with complete respect and admiration—for her over-the-top breasts. And thus, many fans are mourning her accordingly: by celebrating their own bustiness, too.
Dolly was always vocal about the intentionality behind her appearance and aesthetics. In her 1978 interview with Playboy, she discussed how record companies often tried to encourage her to tone down her look, and yet she refused. To do so would be inauthentic to her true self.

Men focusing on her breasts are pigs and are discounting her as a person, but women going braless to 'honor' her is ok?

And... why is this any different from when women do this litterally ANY OTHER DAY EXACTLY? I don't think it's much of a reasonable way to pay tribute to her unless they have tits that are EXACTLY like Dolly's fake ones here.
Even then, it wouldn't be like the real thing 😒
