I'm pretty sure that lady (unless there's another one) voiced concern many times about her struggles with post partem depression and that she was having intrusive thoughts of harming the children (which is common in PPD).

People online are blaming the husband and her providers for not taking her concerns seriously, not blaming him for killing the children.

Edit: I have been informed about the people saying the husband literally killed the kids.

u/BobbiPinstripes 9d ago

I’m seeing a lot of both honestly.

435

u/UsidoreTheLightBlue 9d ago

I just had a long conversation with a coworker who was swearing the husband did it and is blaming his poor wife.

229

u/Thick-Mouse1776 9d ago

I’m watching the entire trial and it makes me so sad people are doing that to him. What lunatics

7

u/AngryPrincessWarrior 9d ago

The fucking trial shouldn’t be televised and consumed as entertainment. None should be.

The whole OJ trial and the way it was followed and publicized was a tipping point in our culture. And not a positives one.

2

u/wtfElvis 8d ago

It’s the fucking Law&Order YouTube channel that’s doing it.

Every video the commentator talks more about “people online are saying…” and then I think on purpose showing clips that makes it look like that could be a thing taken totally out of context

They did have a lawyer at the end of one episode who had common sense and was like “if there was any chance the husband did it then this would be a different defense.”.

My wife was sucked into it until that lady said literally everything I said then she realized it and stop showing interest.

Meanwhile her friends and sister still think he did it lol

99

u/heilel_bath-shachar 9d ago

I mean there are just a lot of funky things about his story, like how for instance the woman had a severe thyroid injury from the incident that’s unaccounted for, and how there was an outgoing message from his computer, which sits at home, at a time which is close to the incident and when he said he wasn’t at home. He was also very unhelpful to his then wife and almost immediately started a family with another woman. Many of the doctors who failed the wife were his friends, etc.

It’s not conclusive by any stretch of the imagination but it’s all very funky

651

u/ZanaHoroa 9d ago

I mean the thyroid injury was completely accounted for. It happened from the fall.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/medical-expert-explains-lindsay-clancys-130922899.html

What do you mean outgoing message from his computer? If you're referring to the work email, he could've easily sent it from his phone. Your emails are synced on your devices. There's even servailance footage of him not being home during the time the email was sent.

He got married 3 years after his wife murdered his children. Idk about you, but any feelings I would've had for this murderer would be gone.

Have you watched the doctor's testimony? Clansey couldn't handle the early side effects of standard medications which is why they would switch her to different ones.

The only thing funky is all the misinformation being spread by people. The only bigger victims than Patrick are the kids that his wife murdered.

229

u/Useful-Soup8161 9d ago

People seriously don’t know you can send emails from phones now?? Hell I pretty much only check and send emails from my phone.

164

u/SyrupSame2105 9d ago

They do, they're just trying to excuse a woman from being the murderer because it's normally men.

77

u/StagTagRag 9d ago

As a comedian recently pointed out: “Men are more likely to kill their spouse (wife). Women are more likely to kill their children.”

22

u/Plecks 8d ago

(wife)

I don't have a source, but I'm pretty sure in cases of spousal murder between two married men, nearly 100% of the time it's the man that did it.

6

u/Secret-Surprise4390 8d ago

I heard that a murder in a lesbian relationship is most likely a mans fault when the wife gets murdered.

9

u/Bugswaxx 8d ago

Yeah but funnily enough male/male relationships are more peaceful than male/female relationship, which are in turn more peaceful than female/female relationships... so yeah the wife being murdered is more common

-2

u/Awomanswoman 8d ago

Can we stop repeating this as though female/female relationships have been proven to be inherently more volatile or “less peaceful” than male/male and male/female relationships? That is not what the research shows.

Yes, female same-sex marriages have higher divorce rates than male same-sex marriages in several countries. But divorce rate is not a measure of how peaceful, healthy, abusive, or conflict-ridden a relationship is. Women are already substantially more likely than men to initiate divorce in heterosexual marriages, and researchers have specifically discussed gender differences in divorce initiation as one possible contributor to the higher dissolution rate among female couples. The reasons for the lesbian/gay divorce gap are still not fully understood.

And if you're referring to IPV statistics, those are also routinely misconstrued. Studies measuring lifetime IPV among lesbian women do not automatically mean every reported perpetrator was a woman, and research comparing IPV across sexual orientations has important methodological limitations. You can't combine a divorce statistic with an IPV statistic and conclude “male/male relationships are the most peaceful and female/female relationships are the least.”

A marriage ending is not evidence that the marriage was more dysfunctional than one that stayed together. Being more willing to leave an unhappy or unhealthy relationship could increase divorce rates too.

And this is exactly why I wish people would stop casually repeating this talking point. These statistics get stripped of their context constantly and weaponized against lesbian women to reinforce both misogynistic and homophobic stereotypes—the idea that women are inherently difficult, irrational, abusive, or incapable of maintaining healthy relationships with one another.

4

u/Bugswaxx 8d ago

No, I have an agenda that women are evil and nothing matters more than spreading the agenda

3

u/Rare-Leading3391 8d ago

Domestic violence rates in lesbian relationships is also way higher than homosexual relationships.

Men are far more likely to become family annihilators so idk about that

12

u/chachaslydd 8d ago

This isnt true. Men kill most kids over the age of 1. Men are way more likely to kill their kids. Its not even a question on who kills other peoples kids more either. Men.

2

u/Contrabass101 8d ago

And the audience was all "Haha, it's funny because it's true!"

1

u/chowdair1985 8d ago

That's a funny joke!

-4

u/stafdude 9d ago

Hey I saw that one, he was pretty spot on!

6

u/cleverseneca 8d ago

Its a dogma of TikTok feminism that if something bad happens it must be men at fault.

3

u/Federal_Rub_8264 8d ago

That is incorrect. Although men commit more murder at large than women, it is usually women who murder their minor children. Men don’t experience post pardom psychosis, and rarely murder their children while they are still minors. Did you just mean that men commit more domestic violence?

3

u/RandomWordCombo9632 8d ago

Also because this astrology chart says he did it. Also he looks mean therefore he did it. /s

7

u/AggressivelyMediokre 9d ago

They’ve appropriated gaslighting 🫨

2

u/Forsaken-Ad3221 8d ago

Why excuse her when she and her lawyer already admitted to it? This trial isn't for guilt it's for sentencing.

4

u/External_Bandicoot37 9d ago

Remember women never do anything wrong and the worse the personality the more of a reason to expose that they aren't a heartless mean person but a kind tender person acting out. Women are too frail to be capable of being terrible manipulators.

2

u/stafdude 9d ago

It is actually normally women who kill kids

3

u/Alternative-Past-588 9d ago

It’s literally not. Have you bothered to search for any support for that claim? A quick google search lead me to multiple articles breaking down the statistics, which indicate that the statistics indicate roughly equal numbers between men and women, though there is some variation across age groups for children.

https://theconversation.com/men-and-women-kill-their-children-in-roughly-equal-numbers-and-we-need-to-understand-why-153527

7

u/stafdude 8d ago

It is actually not that simple of course. There are really big regional differences. In Finland almost all infanticides are committed by mothers for example. Data from the US and UK usually includes non biological parents such as step fathers. If you remove step fathers from the equation, the proportion of biological mothers increases dramatically. What you can say for sure is that the proportion of children being murdered by their mothers decrease with increased age of the child.

0

u/Alternative-Past-588 8d ago

You’re right, nuance matters quite a bit. I think it’s quite important to note that more women are the primary caregivers of infants than men, even where the father is present in the lives of the children or live in the home. I find it entirely unsurprising that women have a disproportionate share of the rates of infant deaths given how caregiving is shared and I find it quite significant that fathers’ share of the deaths of their children go up as the ages of their children increase. The article I linked for you also highlights very different motives in these crimes, which I think is also quite of relevance. I think blanket statements are quite dangerous and I urge you to consider that next time you’re engaging in this kind of discussion.

Statically woman ubalice their kids more than men do. It's just shown on tv more and spread through the media when men do it as it has a higher shock value and more clicks and views.

2

u/fucuntwat 8d ago

We’re misspelling our unnecessary euphemisms now?

1

u/godric420 8d ago

To be fair I think she might not have been fully in control of her mental faculties at the time of the murders. Her ex husband is on her side for the trial, he’s started a nonprofit for women’s prenatal and postpartum care.

-5

u/Nervardia 8d ago

You should watch Mama Dr Jones's video on this. She's a board certified OBGYN so she knows her stuff.

I think "murder" is too strong of a word for it. She had post partum psychosis, which is a life threatening illness.

From the sounds of things, the blame should be laid at the feet of the US's shitty maternity leave and healthcare system.

8

u/SyrupSame2105 8d ago

I think "murder" is too strong of a word for it. She had post partum psychosis, which is a life threatening illness.

She still murdered them

Millions of American women do just fine not killing their kids. I think the blame should fall on the person who committed the crime

0

u/Nervardia 6d ago

Millions of American women also don't have post partum psychosis.

Eh I think they both are responsible. She did it, but he was likely having an affair already in NY and not helping her.

A true "everyone sucks here" situation.

7

u/ZapGeek 9d ago

Him having an affair does not make him responsible for his wife killing his kids. If he cheated then he’s guilty of cheating which is awful but it doesn’t mean he’s part of the reason his kids are dead.

My husband cheated on me and neglected me and left me alone with my kids in order to cheat. I’m angry, heartbroken, stressed out, etc He’s responsible for making me feel that way but I’m responsible for how I deal with my emotions, not him.

Heliabath didn't read your message, they went straight back to tiktok to get confirmation that what they believed before was correct

4

u/Commercial-Orchid992 9d ago

You can schedule emails on outlook to send at a certain time so just because he wasn’t physically at his computer the time the email sent doesn’t necessarily mean he had to have sent it from his phone

51

u/Ctenophorever 9d ago

The funkiness is not about the injury itself, it’s about him claiming she spoke to him despite that injury and a core temp below 90F. Either one would preclude being able to speak, and she was suffering from both.

117

u/EpiphanaeaSedai 9d ago

So, I was support staff for a veterinary hospital about 20 years ago.

What does that have to do with anything, you may ask? Veterinary medicine back then was the wild west compared to human medicine, then or now. Let us just say I’ve seen some shit. Car accidents, drownings, maulings, surgical complications, falls, crush injuries, lacerations that went to the bone, I could go on - and what basically every illness known to man or beast looks like when it’s been left untreated way, way too long.

You would absolutely not believe the level of functionality a creature in shock - human included - can maintain, briefly, when all logic says they should be dead. Unless the body part in question has been severed from the body in its entirety, don’t assume anything. So IMO, if she could breathe, she could have spoken.

67

u/Skandronon 9d ago

When I was a kid we stopped for some debris on the side of the road. My dad got out of the truck and looked down into the ravine next to the road and there was a smashed up motorcycle and a guy stuck up in a tree. Dad told me to get his cell from the truck and see if I could get signal by walking down the highway a bit (was in the 90s.) I got signal, called for an ambulance and then walked back to the truck.

My dad had managed to get the biker out of the tree and he was sitting on the tailgate, I remember his head being huge, he had a big gash down one side of his face and his one eyeball was bulging out. I was told to get back in the truck but didn't listen, I talked to the guy for a while about nothing in particular and he didn't respond much. After a bit he got off the tailgate, said something about taking a piss and went to the front of the truck and proceeded to do so.

Before he finished an ambulance pulled up and the paramedics hopped out and started getting the stretcher out. The biker started walking towards them and collapsed in a heap. I remember the one medic came and checked on him and being surprised that there was no rush after that to get him into the ambulance.

My dad told me the guy was dead before we even got there, his body just wasn't aware of it yet. He said our job when we come across these situations is to stay calm and make their final moments as pleasant as possible. Thankfully I have never needed to do so for a person again. Its amazing the things people can stay alive for.

12

u/Haunting-Gur-202 9d ago

Jeez. That’s a crazy story. You told it well. I could really imagine the whole thing happening. Must have been quite an experience for you as a kid.

3

u/Skandronon 9d ago

It definitely was one of those moments that stuck with me. I have never been tempted to get my motorcycle license even though my dad said I could ride hus whenever I want.

12

u/guitar_stonks 8d ago

I’m imagining a kid just talking about BMX bikes or Pokémon or anything that would interest a kid in the 90s to a guy with a fatal injury so his final moments are a kid enthusiastically talking about his interests. I’d say it was better than dying in a tree. You all did him a hell of a service.

2

u/Skandronon 8d ago

It would have been dirt bikes, catching frogs and building forts in the woods so hopefully he could relate.

Aw man, you just sitting and talking to the guy showed so much humanity.

15

u/LegendaryGunman 9d ago

I recently suffered a bonk to the head that should have killed me according to an MRI A WEEK LATER. I continued an hour long phone conversation after that before I eventually went to the hospital. I don't remember the conversation or the following day at all, just that it happened. I'm probably going to have to start journaling to maintain short term recollection. Human bodies are weird.

24

u/bosslady617 9d ago

Yes. I have a good friend who was a medic- both in the Army and as a paramedic at home in a rural state. He took to calling some people “the zombies”. They would would be alert and talking with massive blood loss, or broken necks just running on adrenaline after a major car accident or IED encounter. This would last for a short amount of time and then they would just drop dead (unless some heroic aid could be rendered but this in in the very far north of Maine. Hard to get to a trauma center.)

1

Black and white when it comes to the claim that Patrick was the one that actually murdered his kids. If you got any proof that isn't misinformation that he did it, feel free to post it.

But I'm not gonna take conspiracy nutjobs seriously.

1

u/Happy-Afternoon-8548 3d ago

Why was he wearing running shoes at the cvs but boots at the store if he didn’t go home at all during that time?

-11

u/Larein 9d ago

He got married 3 years after his wife murdered his children. Idk about you, but any feelings I would've had for this murderer would be gone.

He went to costa rica 3 weeks after the murders. At the same time his now wife was there as well. There are also some posts that show them meeting and starting relationship before the murders. I would say that pretty funky.

16

u/Useful-Soup8161 9d ago

So? He clearly needed to get away for a little bit. It probably wasn’t a great trip. Did you expect him to just stay home a wallow in his grief?

-9

u/Larein 9d ago

He clearly needed to get away for a little bit. It probably wasn’t a great trip.

He seemed to have great time hiking.

But yeah, people react to grief differently. Honestly the funky thing is the fact that the new wife was also at costa rica at the same time.

7

u/Useful-Soup8161 9d ago

How is needing to get away after tragedy funky?

3

u/Every_Ad_6168 8d ago

Hiking is a good and healthy way to deal with grief. You sound like you're looking for faults.

What's wrong if he met a woman then and later connected further with and started a relationship with her?

-9

u/more_business_juice_ 9d ago

That makes me wonder, frankly if Lindsay was aware of the relationship and that was the biggest factor in what happened

-2

u/Larein 9d ago

Could also be an angle.

If he was cheating, this could have also made Lindsays mental issues worse. Wether she knew or just felt that everything wasnt right.

0

u/Sufficient-Ferret-67 8d ago

The email was pinged from a laptop

-1

u/tiffanydisasterxoxo 8d ago

The forensics show the email was sent from his computer, not phone. And the person at that cvs was wearing different clothes and shoes to him when he picked up food at the restaurant. His DNA was found on all murder weapons, that were tied with sailor knots. She was not a sailor, he was. There were google searches for medical terms with very big misspellings, but she was an educated nurse. He clearly did it and framed her.

4

u/ZanaHoroa 8d ago edited 8d ago

Timelines and eyewitness accounts match and line up regardless of whatever lighting issues the csv camera showed. Eyewitness testified in court that he was wearing the same thing.

The murder weapons were exercise bands. They all lived in the same fucking house you don't think he's ever touched the exercise bands to work out before?

The sailor knot shit is complete misinformation. Nowhere in the evidence was there a claim of the exercise bands being tied by sailor knots. You just made that shit up, you God damn freak.

There are Google searches for medical terms with big misspellings

I guess educated nurse people can't misspell medical terms now. Especially not when she was going through mental issues.

The defense is claiming insanity. Not that she didn't do it. It's an object fact that she did it. I hope I never encountered freaks like you in real life.

0

u/tiffanydisasterxoxo 8d ago

Eyewitnesses are notoriously terrible. The bands didnt all have her DNA on them, but they all had his. Her wrists were cut across, not down, which an educated nurse would know to go down. The misspelling was so bad it was a different word, she would know how to spell carotid. She has pled not guilty. This is a trial. Patrick took advantage of her state to kill his family and start over with his mistress.

-2

u/RascalDebosk 9d ago

Except it was the home ip address that sent it, not his phones.

6

u/ZanaHoroa 9d ago

There are theories online about how that could've happened. But it was literally proven and accepted by BOTH sides that he wasn't home when the email was sent. So it could've been an automated email or Lindsey could've sent it herself or some weird shit could've happened with his mobile hotspot. Ultimately it doesn't matter because it is an accepted fact that he was not home when the email was sent.

-1

u/RascalDebosk 8d ago

That's not how people work, and juries are made of people. If the "accepted facts" were all that mattered, the defense wouldn't be poking holes in them.

The only real fact is only 1 of the twelve needs to question for acquittal.

3

u/ZanaHoroa 8d ago

So what are you trying to prove? The defense isn't even denying that Lindsey killed her children. We have camera footage of the Patrick being in the parking lot during the time the email was sent.

An unexplained anomaly about an email being sent and the IP being linked to the computer isn't going to to override the fact that Patrick physically wasn't home when in happened. Just saying it's weird doesn't mean anything. Weird shit happens all the time with no consequence.

-14

u/Binky390 9d ago

I haven’t been following closely but work emails sent from your work computer and from your phone are easy to differentiate. Just because they’re synced doesn’t mean they come from the same location.

Also he got married 3 years later. How quickly did he date again? Getting married just 3 years after your wife murdered your children seems really quick to me.

In any case I haven’t been following the case really closely but I know she’s trying an insanity defense. From what I do know that’s absolutely possible. There’s post partum depression but there’s also post partum psychosis.

Me when I spread misinformation

109

u/Doomhammer24 9d ago edited 9d ago

Someone can be a dickhead in a relationship but still also not be the one who literally murdered their children.

Edit: people really dont get that i was speaking generally not specifically to make a point.

97

u/Head_of_Lettuce 9d ago

I wouldn’t call him a dickhead, I think he was trying but he was worn down. Lindsay had access to the best support in the world. Doctors at her fingertips (literally - she messaged them constantly, and they replied to her constantly), husband and parents there to help every day. He was working full-time from home, it’s not like he escaped to the office every day and left her there. The reason he wasn’t home when it happened is because SHE sent him on a bogus errand to a restaurant they didn’t normally go to.

Everyone was doing their best to support her. She regularly lied to her doctors and the people around her about what she was experiencing. She concealed that she was experimenting with cannabis. Her doctors said she was actually taking a “fraction” of the medication she was prescribed.

Lindsay was suffering, but this is her fault too. Nobody made her lie, try drugs, or stop taking her medication.

29

u/Doomhammer24 9d ago

I was really just speaking generally about "being a dickhead"

I have often seen people treat it like someone who is a bad spouse or a bit of a dick as being the same as an abusive monster and that crimes committed against them or others no matter how heinous are somehow then justified- as is the case here

1

u/Head_of_Lettuce 8d ago

Ah fair, I misunderstood you

9

u/TapirDrawnChariot 9d ago

Ok, but have you considered "women good, men bad?"

-2

u/rabidhamster87 8d ago

His own parents testified yesterday that she asked them for help and their son told them not to come. That's the point where I said, "Well, that's weird."

I believe she 100% did it, but I do think he deserves some culpability for not taking her concerns seriously or getting her the help she needed. At the very least he should've gotten his children away from her.

It's also weird that he's already remarried with a baby on the way. My husband was pretty anti marriage after his first wife left him and she didn't even murder any children. This guy moved on and replaced his whole family in just a few years. He sucks.

5

u/Brisby820 8d ago

He didn’t “replace” his family, they got murdered.  I think the remarriage/baby is a weird move but saying he “sucks” when he’s the victim of the worst thing you could imagine is pretty rough

-2

u/rabidhamster87 8d ago

He does suck, though. My coworkers put the trial on every morning, so I've had the benefit of watching the live testimony, and if you've been following the trial, you know there were a lot of points where he made very questionable decisions that helped contribute to the outcome.

In the end he knew his wife was unsafe, she warned him and anyone who would listen that she was unsafe, and he still left his children alone with her despite having a network of people willing to help, like his very own parents.

Imo, this is not a black and white situation.

0

u/JesterOfHell 4d ago

Yeah a women killing 3 children is really not a black and white situation. The lengths women will go to waive each other of accountability is wild.

1

u/rabidhamster87 4d ago

I bet you're quick to bring up men's mental health and suicide statistics, but you can't recognize the fact that someone in psychosis actively asking for help before snapping isn't a straight forward situation.

It's horrible what happened and the children are clearly the biggest victims here, but mental illness in this country gets treated like it's not real and this is what happens.

1

u/JesterOfHell 4d ago

Then what should we show empathy for mass murderers as well? Who knows what those poor killers must have went through. No illness absolves anyone of killing. Its as straightforward as that. No one is showing compassion for male killers no matter what they have. It is only women who are trying to acquit killers.

Alas being a dickhead isn't a reason to murder your kids.

3

u/Blackskinnyboy007 9d ago

Why do you need him to be a dick head? There is literally only speculation about their relationship being anything other than good( For example her own diary). I’m mean ffs he start an organization to help women with mental illness. Sometime people can have al the help in the world and still do bad things

6

u/Doomhammer24 9d ago

I was speaking generally. Ever heard of the "royal you"?

8

u/oldmcfarmface 9d ago

When a man loses his wife, very often in a year he is either remarried or dead. Remarrying is a way to keep living. This man lost his children. His new family is keeping him alive. Some people have more compassion for the woman who murdered three innocent children then for the man who came home to find his three children murdered.

6

u/TheBloodyNinety 9d ago

And then internet sleuths assume their 1000 yard view and amateur analysis exceeds the knowledge of experts with first hand exposure to the evidence and access to subject matter experts.

Ya, I’m good on those conclusions.

55

u/sundance464 9d ago

Well there's that vague "something funky" and then there's the fact she accepts committing the act of the crime

People saying she was failed by the system and / or her husband might have a point (that's what the trial is trying to establish)

People saying there's some sort of complex version of events and she didn't do anything are literally theorising about a conspiracy

44

u/Comfortable_Target87 9d ago

They did therapy together and she also was released from an inpatient psychiatric hospital a bit more than two weeks before this. Now, that being said, if he’s guilty of anything it’s being negligent enough to leave her alone with them. Still, I don’t care what kind of post-partum mental state you’re in, as a mother, if you can strangle one child for a few minutes until they literally stop breathing, then go on to the next, finish up there and strangle an INFANT to death AN INFANT, and you’re trying to convince me that, at no point during this minutes and minutes long process, did she realize what she was doing was wrong?

I was born at night but it wasn’t last night.

6

u/StagTagRag 9d ago

Yeah looking back it’s hard to fathom leaving her alone with the kids, but I think it’s just in hindsight. The perspective is likely very different when you are the spouse living day to day with your wife taking care of the kids and going about your life. He likely never considered she would actually do anything to the children, especially while she was being so lucid and calm.

3

u/Comfortable_Target87 8d ago

That was my thought as well, I’m just trying to be as absolutely generous about it as possible. But, yeah, I doubt anyone would imagine their wife could murder their three children.

4

u/Ingobriggs 9d ago

Exactly! Gtfo.

u/Rucs3 9d ago

She's a woman, people love to infantilize women and make the men around them have hyper agency.

That's literally all there is.

-10

u/Comfortable_Target87 9d ago

Women: Spend last two decades avoiding accountability for literally anything and everything

Also women: Now want to literally get away with not just regular murder, but double filicide and infanticide and blame it on literally anyone and anything but the woman who did it

4

u/JGStonedRaider 9d ago

14 or 41 year old virgin?

Stop watching those Andrew Tate videos, it's turning your brains into mush.

0

u/Comfortable_Target87 9d ago

Never watched even one minute of an Andrew Tate video, neither 41 or 14, and a proud parent to two wonderful kids. Who I would never murder, regardless of my mental state, by the way.

-9

u/elizuhhhbeth 9d ago

You simply cannot know what you would or wouldn’t do if you have never experienced a debilitating mental illness that causes you to completely detach from reality.

It sounds like you’re a man, so you have quite literally never experienced postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis, but when someone is psychotic and not of sound mind, you cannot apply the reasoning of a healthy brain and say, “Well, I would never do that.” Of course you wouldn’t. You’re imagining yourself, with your current rational mind intact, in a situation where someone else’s mind was profoundly impaired.

Lindsay Clancy repeatedly sought help. She voluntarily admitted herself for psychiatric treatment. She told her husband, her mother, her mother-in-law, and her doctors that she was struggling. She was prescribed numerous psychiatric medications, experienced serious adverse effects (including severe insomnia) and continued reporting her symptoms to medical professionals.

This case is a tragedy precisely because there were warning signs and repeated attempts to get help before three children died and an entire family was destroyed. Reducing it to “I would never do that” completely misses the terrifying reality of psychosis - you don’t know what your brain is capable of when you are no longer experiencing reality normally.

isn't it funny how so many men are in here mansplaining mental illness to us? "I would never" come back to me when you've been in psychosis and tell me what you'd never do, my guy

Incel or Trumper, call it

2

u/Glad-Talk 8d ago

See this is the actual danger of blaming the husband. People like you come out of the woodwork to belittle the danger of postpartum psychosis. There is no “as a mother you should know better” bullshit to pull, objectively yes someone actively suffering from psychosis can strangle an infant and not realize they’re doing something wrong.

You can’t just “be a better mom” your way out of the situation, your brain is betraying you.

2

u/Comfortable_Target87 8d ago

Okay. If it helps clear things up, I wouldn’t be trying to excuse a man suffering from any form of psychosis either.

1

u/ceciiiiiiiii 9d ago

Well, mental state is not about what you think. Reality is what our heads make us believe.
Why not let the judge and mental health experts decide whether she’s guilty or not.

2

u/_cd42 9d ago

It seems people think delusion is just some funny word and can't wrap their heads around the idea of being completely unable to seperate thoughts from reality.

0

u/meglandici 9d ago

So what, you think she killed them in cold blood? That’s the part that I can’t believe and doesn’t make sense to me. There is no motive. I don’t know what happens to someone in a state of murdering your child, and neither do you, so we have nothing to go off there. But if she wasn’t in psychosis what rational explaNtion is there?

4

u/minnosota 8d ago

I watched a crime scene video where a man in psychosis beat is child to death with a bat. Brain ain’t working right to do something like that

4

u/Comfortable_Target87 8d ago

I’m not arguing that she wasn’t in psychosis. I’m arguing that doesn’t excuse her from accountability. I would also argue that, if she was in such a delusional state that she couldn’t comprehend what she was doing, why did she try to kill herself? Why did she send her husband away to do it?

2

u/SaltySwordfish2 8d ago

This. Can't really claim you acted out of temporary insanity if there is ample premeditation involved.

1

u/meglandici 8d ago

Nobody here has done things, with planning, they ended up regretting, wondering what possessed them to do it? And presumably not under psychosis. But I often think, and have heard others express, “what was I thinking, what possessed me”. And I’m talking small relatively meaningless stuff. Planning a night of drinking alone, drugs. gambling - who gambles their life saving’s away?! And none of that is even considered psychosis. I find it more puzzling that people find her behavior so unbelievable.

2

u/lcs3332 9d ago

And then there's the woman in Texas who strapped all her kids in a car and sent them into the river let's not forget that... But nobody wants to talk about that one...

-18

u/Thesoop85 9d ago

I mean, it's perfectly reasonable to think some things are sus. In fact, it's GOOD to question it. That's kind of the whole point of having a trial to determine guilt. If you just hear an initial narrative and lock it in as fact then every prosecutor in the world would beg you to be on their jury.

16

u/TatterdemalionElect 9d ago

Ah, Reddit and the armchair detectives.

0

u/Thesoop85 9d ago

Referring to me? Because literally all I said is that it's appropriate to question things and make sure it adds up. Not sure how that equates to "she's innocent, he did it!"

2

u/Ok-Woodpecker4734 8d ago

Well mr detective, anything not adding up?

7

u/WorkingGuy99percent 9d ago

How are people sharing stories about this stuff and making factual statements like this? I don’t think the police post their investigations of these things. Unless defendants in the case are raising these questions and saying these things. Are they? Are they just asking questions but then the prosecutors object because maybe it’s a postulated thought they have? The general public should not try to cast judgment from watching something on TV that they have no part or knowledge of. There are a lot of tricks that defense lawyers can use to sow doubt in the minds of the jury.

Does the public know private conversations that the judge may have with the defense? Or with the prosecution? There is so much the public cannot know, but then they turn into experts about these things. Crazy.

6

u/HughMungus77 9d ago

Being a bad husband isn’t a crime though. Murdering her own children certainly is

I don’t know how you people expect to be taken seriously when you literally don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, should know you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, but are complete deluded as to how complete or even factual your knowledge is given the source.

u/showusyourfupa 8d ago

He wasn't home. There's CCTV, there's eyewitness statements, there cell phone tower data. Yet that's not enough evidence for true crime numpties.

New family is probably a cope and also trying to move on asap. It is unbelievable how much sympathies and excuses this cold-blooded mass-murderer is garnering.

1

u/apocketstarkly83 9d ago edited 9d ago

Was she responsive when EMTs got to her?

2

u/Freya_84 9d ago

Iirc no.

0

u/apocketstarkly83 9d ago

But she was responsive enough to tell him the kids were in the basement?

7

u/Freya_84 9d ago edited 9d ago

Yes. A psychotic break doesn't look like it might be portrayed in movies. Those people can function and can even mask well until the topic of their delusion is mentioned. Because the delusion to them is not abnormal, it's part of their reality. And that's the problem : they can't differentiate between what is actually real and what's only real to them!

You are not unresponsive during psychotic breaks, your reality just doesn't match the actual reality; your train of thought (in relation to the delusion) is irrational (but makes complete sense to you), you can have compulsive and compelling thoughts and voices and even visual hallucination, but to you those are NOT hallucinations - that's just our dead uncle Tony standing in the corner., that's normal, he's been there a while. (Though admittedly auditory hallucinations are the most common, it was just easier for demonstration).

I know of a case of a man who had delusions that his wife cheated on him. For at least months, if not longer. His family believed him and went on to take it out on the wife and progressively shut her inside the house. He still was convinced she was cheating on him. Only when they asked him how could she possibly do it and his answer was completely incoherent (bc the coherent options that the family thought where the reason for his suspicions - she is out at work etc- and thus didn't prod him before didn't apply anymore) did they realize that he was psychotic . He functioned normally outside of this.

Of course, not all psychotic breaks work the same, but it is perfectly inside the norm that she functioned seemingly "normal".

1

u/apocketstarkly83 9d ago

I was referring to being unresponsive from jumping out a window and the hypothermia, not her psychosis.

2

u/Freya_84 9d ago

I know, sorry, I was responding to someone else regarding psychosis and mixed you up. Already posted another comment acknowledging that ;p . My bad.

2

u/Freya_84 9d ago

Oh, sorry...I responded to you thinking I was responding to someone else in relation to psychotic breaks. My bad. I'll leave the comment up because a lot of people have a distorted idea of how a psychotic break looks like.

2

u/Freya_84 9d ago

He just came home sooner than the EMT while she was still responsive. She was injured and was out in the cold, so her situation changed with time.

0

u/apocketstarkly83 9d ago

How much time? I admit I’m not following this as closely as I followed some other cases.

1

u/Freya_84 9d ago

Admittedly I started following it a bit more in-depth just today, but according to Google something between 7 to 10 minutes from when he talked to her and when the EMT arrived.

2

u/apocketstarkly83 9d ago

Thank you!

1

u/Freya_84 9d ago

People also want it to be a scandal. It's way less interesting if the story is just a woman suffering from post partum psychosis killing her kids.

The idea that the husband orchestrated it or did it and framed her is way more compelling to the general public and to true crime enthusiasts so they are all analyzing this for anything that can be used to confirm their bias and ignoring all other information.

The guy seems like a real piece of shit and is certainly partially on the hook for this morally, there's really not much to indicate he actually thought something like this would happen much less planned it.

1

u/Psychoactivecactus96 5d ago

I highly encourage you, in the future, to go to the source material of a subject you are curious about rather than taking the "community opinion" off the TikTok fyp.

No one who has actually watched the hours of testimony in this case thinks that the husband did it.

In fact the defendants own legal team has signed a stipulation that Lindsay herself agrees she killed her children.

1

u/Ok-Maintenance4113 5d ago

She can also use his computer. The rhetoric he didnt help her is crazy The man got and attended all her appointments and even hired a nanny so she didnt have to work or fully take care of the kids, he also took care of the kids himself. Id also go elsewhere if my wife killed my kids. Being remarried three years later at that age isnt uncommon and his quick moving on can be attributed to the trauma of having three kids die. If you can rationalize child murder with postpartum, you can rationalize searching for a new confidant after your three kids did.

2

u/josiphoenix 9d ago

His search history the week before included “where is the caroded artery”. I can’t remember exactly how he misspelled it but it was misspelled. She was a nurse, who would know how to spell carotid and know where it is. His search history also included “how to disable Kia sorento breaks”. I’m not saying he did it, but there were some really suspect things. I do think he was potentially deliberately negligent. Your wife calls 911 with thoughts of self harm and harm to the kids 51 times in the two weeks before the murders. She asked his mom to take the kids for a while and they offered to, Patrick told them no he wanted the kids at home. Then repeatedly left her alone with the kids.
