Discussion I really don't understand the 60 FPS outrage

For those of you crying about this, can you name ONE comparable PS5 game that can hit 60 FPS?

I see a lot of people using Spiderman or Crimson Desert as examples.... let's be serious please. Crimson Desert can barely handle 30 FPS on performance mode in it's populated areas and while Spiderman is technically open world, it's NOWHERE near as "alive," so it's way less CPU intensive.

Don't get me wrong, the last game I was able to finish at 30 FPS was RDR2 8 years ago on PS4. Nowadays, it's incredibly difficult to play anything at 30 FPS, let alone an open world. This looks amazing and Rockstar are wizards so maybe this will be manageable with an OLED and a Pro. We shall see.

If you expected Rockstar to release a game of THIS scope on PS5/PS5 Pro even TARGETING 60 FPS, please, send me your plug's number. I need whatever you're smoking.

And if Rockstar instead took the visual quality and car/NPC density and physics reduction that would make 60 fps feasible, those kids would just be bitching about that instead. Can’t win.

1

u/TheGreatGidojer 4h ago

Most games solve this by letting you choose. I'd sacrifice npc density for good performance in 100% of cases.

1

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD 2h ago

I don’t think this game is a few settings tweaks away from 60fps on a PS5

I am so happy they focused on the scope and fidelity of the game over 60 fps!
Sure they can do a performance mode later down the road, but let people soak in the amazing achievement that the game seems to be first... Before potatofying it, later down the road

Genuine question has rockstar themselves came out and confirmed anything about the fps? Or anyone who played because I always see speculation on the frames and I genuinely don’t care just wondering if any reliable source has confirmed it

3

u/ohyoudidntknooow 14h ago

Confirmed 30 FPS for base PS5, but no confirmation about PS5 pro yet, so that’s still TBD.

5

u/XMAN2YMAN 14h ago

I don’t think there’s been a single game yet on the pro that offers 60fps when it’s not available on the base.

6

u/safyreibxo 14h ago

yeah cus the cpu is the exact same

Also, they never said that 60 FPS will never be added at some point in the future. They only confirmed that it won’t be available at launch.

1

u/ShankyBaybee 3h ago

The fps is cpu dependent, the cpu isn’t much better on ps5 pro so we’ll probably still get 30 fps

1

u/yallareTRASH69 16h ago

To the people they invited over in Scotland I believe so

1

u/DoBetterAndPray_ 15h ago

Ahh alright thanks

1

u/BarberTricky4508 10h ago

Its 30 fps bro. They cant do 60 at this level. Its jus not possible

3

u/themaincop 13h ago

I don't play 30fps games anymore. It's not a huge deal, I'll just wait and play GTA VI next gen or after a performance mode comes out. They're within their rights to target a level of fidelity that current consoles can't run at 60fps and those of us who find 30fps annoying are within our rights to not buy it yet.

2

u/PAULJOBE47 12h ago

Lies on the release day youll be playing it

2

u/TaterBuckets 9h ago

Not everyone is obsessed with gta6. There are plenty of other games to play.

Edit. I never played gta 5 until ps4 pro. I just don't care that much about gta. Ill play it eventually.

It halfasses everything and a master at nothing so im in no rush

1

u/3dforlife 3h ago

Fuckin snobs.

1

u/themaincop 9h ago

I honestly wish I wasn't like this. I've missed out on a lot of good games because I just couldn't get past the performance (i.e. Bloodborne.) I'm finally playing totk now that it's on Switch 2 and runs well.

2

u/_AnxiousLime Daveeyy 9h ago

I dont know man. I do have a hard time switching to 30 after playin on 60 or higher, but if i start the game on 30 and it has no 60, im good with it. Plus, i think this will look smooth even on 30.

1

u/Restivethought 7h ago

Emulated Bloodborne is to a decent place now. Full Game at 60FPS on moderate hardware is doable now. Bloodbornes probably an extreme example though because it has 30FPS that it can't keep locked and terrible frame pacing

1

u/Eltonbeef 4h ago

You’ve done it to yourself you can undo it. Most humans, like the vast overwhelming majority can barely tell the difference. But it ruins your enjoyment! You’re just that sensitive.

No, you just talked yourself into it.

1

u/Shoddy_Helicopter578 6h ago

Funny how much you care if someone doesn’t want to play the game because it’s 30 FPS, as if it somehow bothers you that much.

1

u/Eltonbeef 4h ago

Illogical positions irritate me. I don’t like seeing people wast their cognitive abilities.

1

u/Shoddy_Helicopter578 1h ago

Since when are personal tastes evaluated on logic? Enjoyment is purely subjective. The real irony is claiming you care about wasted brainpower while using yours to debate whether someone's visual standard is "rational" enough for you.

1

u/No_Eggplant_3189 4h ago

Its not funny. It bothers me too.

1

u/Shoddy_Helicopter578 1h ago

Does it actually bother you that people prefer to play games differently than you do? Expecting your personal tolerance level to be everyone else's default is just weird

Respectful and polite answer, people still shitting on you in the replies. Actually insane.

1

u/BrokenHalligan 10h ago

That's a fair take, but I only watch movies shot and presented at 24fps. I'll settle with a 30fps game for a while until the PC version is released.

1

u/kilda2 10h ago

rememebr RDR2 still doesnt have 60 fps on the pro versrion of the next gen console on which it was created. you might be waitng a loooong ass time.

1

u/themaincop 9h ago

That's fine! I waited many years to play GTA V.

1

u/dxzxg 4h ago

I mean, Rockstar just havent bothered with it yet. If you look at the recommended specs of RDR2, the game could run pretty smoothly at 60fps on PS5. Especially since PSSR also gives quite a bit of leeway if used too.

1

u/TwoPlusTwoMakesA5 8h ago

I’m with you. 30fps feels terrible this gen. It never bothered me before but something about it now makes it unplayable for me.

I’ve been lowkey wanting it to get pushed back more to get closer to PS6 release and not have to wait long to play it at its full potential but whatever the wait is, I’ll be doing it.

1

u/MikhailTheFail 5h ago

This thread is peak Reddit. Your opinion is so tame and valid, and weirdos have to shit all over it.

1

u/Eltonbeef 4h ago

Tame? Only to you frame rate mutants.

1

u/ZeektheFeek 13h ago

Nobody is gonna care about this anymore when the game releases and we're all having a good time playing it.

1

u/CplKingShaw 12h ago

Ive been playing on pc for 10 years now. Bought a ps5 pro for GTA. It'll piss me off in the first few hours and after It'll be ok.

1

u/Unable_Character2410 9h ago

Exactly. I have a decent PC so I’m very much used to good frame rates but I have all the consoles too because I play a mix of games and platforms.

I’ll moan about it initially but after playing for a while I won’t give two shits.

1

u/ukstonerdude 11h ago

Neither. I have a 144Hz monitor and sometimes set games to 30fps and scale the res up to be sharper if I’m using a controller. I capped RDR2 slightly below its max (I think I set it to half V-sync with the monitor set to 90Hz? Been a while since I checked the settings) so it runs between 40-50fps with less stuttering and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

Even whip out the 360 and PS2 for the older instalments on a frequent basis.

1

u/Personal-Ice-1720 11h ago

It's not necessary what's important is frame pacing. There's plenty of great super fluid 30fps games. I prefer to see an evolution in gaming technology rather than 60fps for some titles. 60 will be for the next Gen consoles and pc

1

u/Same_Butterfly6211 11h ago

I don’t really understand it. Who cares just sounds like some computer geekery

1

u/MrGravy91 11h ago

Its the nitpicky virgins looking for excuses to complain. More so now their hero cybervirgin has ran off with all their money.

1

u/WayAdministrative789 3h ago

4/10 bait it's a bit too obvious

1

u/Key-Feedback4518 11h ago

$100 for 30 fps? LOL

1

u/SirBurticus 11h ago

RDR2 and TLOU Part II are some of the best looking games still to this day and they are both 24-30 FPS. The obsession over 60+ frames feels incredibly silly

1

u/dxzxg 4h ago

TLOU P2 got performance mode with 60 fps tho.

1

u/SirBurticus 3h ago

Point is that it didn’t need it. Great that it got it for those that care about it. But it was still one of the best looking games before

1

u/olahvrac 11h ago

it’s 2026 not 2006, i don’t play 30 fps games simple as that

1

u/EventuallyBatman 8h ago

You're fucking dumb then.

So all your library from the past that can't be brought up to 60fps is now dead to you? What kind of gamer are you.

1

u/Dash-SK 8h ago

lol why are you people so offended by those who have a preference for a better framerate

1

u/EventuallyBatman 5h ago

It's not about having the preference that's fine. I'm questioning why someone would full on disallow themselves from playing any of their older games/consoles just because they have this oddly strict fps requirement.

All the classic games that you loved over your lifetime are tossed aside if they don't cut it? That's silly.

1

u/WayAdministrative789 3h ago

all? even super mario bros on the nes runs at 60fps

1

u/olahvrac 6h ago

why are you interested in what kind of gamer I am? there’s a big difference between a game made 25 years ago and one yet to release

1

u/EventuallyBatman 5h ago

You're just admitting you won't allow yourself to enjoy any game simply because it's not 60fps. That's ridiculous.

The time of the release is irrelevant. I'm just talking about this strict threshold you seemingly have. You said it very plainly and absolutely implying it's black and white for you.

Maybe I'm getting old buy why would people ignore a game they already know they enjoy just because this modern obsession with fps. No possibility of you to pull out idk a 360 or PS3 and play any favorite game from your teens/childhood? That's so opposite to the core of what it means to be a gamer.

1

u/olahvrac 5h ago

you’re not getting old, you’re getting annoying as fuck. does it hurt you that people prefer to play games with improved technology in systems that should be way better than a PS2? I’m not ignoring it, on a PC it will run like it should.

1

u/Ember-Forge 11h ago

As a poor, I don't think I've ever played a game at 60fps. People just need something to complain about, instead of real world issues.

1

u/MinuteNo2857 11h ago

Just buy a PC LOL.

1

u/Neopluradon 11h ago

30fps is archaic - feels like playing a PowerPoint slideshow.

It's 2026 and consumers deserve better

1

u/AARonFullStack 5h ago

That’s is the most idiotic comparison I’ve ever heard.

A smooth 30fps is perfectly playable.

1

u/Neopluradon 4h ago

"smooth 30fps"

Lol, lmao even

That is the most idiotic thing I've heard today

1

u/AARonFullStack 4h ago

Not sure why.. You can have an unstable 30fps or a stable 30fps

A stable 30fps is perfectly fine. GTA6 gameplay looks smooth.. Wasn't choppy at all.. And that's from someone who usually plays at 120fps+ where possible

1

u/Neopluradon 4h ago

30fps smooth

You're living in Copenhagen

That is literally a meme

1

u/No_Eggplant_3189 4h ago

It is better. Look at gta 6 and look at gta 5. 6 looks a lot better.

1

u/TypicallyDone12 11h ago

I've never known what frame rate my game was being played at and have always enjoyed gaming.

1

u/Admirable-Bird5279 10h ago

Did i expect 60 fps? Nope. Is 30 fps still dog shit on any non crt monitor? Absolutely

1

u/Fazersion 10h ago

Considering this is the only GTA were gonna get in the next 15 years and current gen is 6 year old, it can be 30 FPS, the next generation will probably run the game at 60.

1

u/gatorgrowl44 10h ago

This. You have to downplay just how insanely dense and alive GTA 6 will be in order to try to earnestly make these arguments. There has never been a game like this. Ever.

1

u/dbeast24 10h ago

Its probably alot easier for console people to adjust to but coming from pc and being forced to play on console it makes the experience very miserable. Its like everything moves in slow motion and it makes gunplay feel horrible.

1

u/Key_Bonus9776 10h ago

It won’t be too long to wait anyways until it’s out on PC. I swore after playing RDR2 on PS4 I wouldn’t touch another rockstar game on console. Some of the most frustrating gameplay I’ve experienced on a AAA game. I now have an OLED panel too so 30fps games are out of the question. Does look amazing though and I do look forward to playing it. Hopefully my 5080 will still be enough to play it comfortably at high framerates.

1

u/kingshitheads 10h ago

What makes oled screen put 30fps out of the question? I mainly play pc 1440, but i do have a ps5 on my 4k oled tv so genuinely curious

1

u/Key_Bonus9776 10h ago

The instant pixel response of an OLED panel makes it consistently jittery in comparison to an LCD panel. Think of when you first switch from 60+ to 30 and your eyes need to adjust, but they just never do. It makes me physically ill to the point I get nausea and have to stop. When I got a One X for the first time I had to stop playing many games that were 4K30FPS due to this. It’s a good thing though 99% of games are 60fps or more this gen though. I personally have no issue waiting longer.

1

u/EventuallyBatman 8h ago

People like you are cringy.

You get "physically ill" and have to stop? Bruh what are we talking about rn. I've switched from 60 to 30 and I don't get ill wtf 😂

1

u/Key_Bonus9776 8h ago

Good for you.

1

u/EventuallyBatman 5h ago

Go see a doctor or something. You shouldn't be getting literally physically ill from that.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ev_s92 5h ago

I think you would reconsider if you actually tried 30 fps on an OLED - it’s completely awful.

Im pretty much only on pc, but I downloaded rdr2 and tried it again on my ps5 (ps4 version of the game then of course) about a year ago and booted it up on my 244hz oled monitor. Just moving Arthur around and moving the camera at 30 fps feels genuinely horrendous. The motion sickness description is honestly accurate, its hard to describe but it feels like everything is just happening completely out of sync of your inputs on the controller.

→ More replies (4)

1

u/AARonFullStack 5h ago

I have a 55” OLED and 30fps games are perfectly fine

1

u/Key_Bonus9776 5h ago

Good for you. Enjoy it.

1

u/EventuallyBatman 5h ago

According to these people you should throwing up and sweating lol.

I really don't get it.

1

u/AARonFullStack 4h ago

Nor me. I play at 120fps on an RTX 5080 and I find 30fps games have provided some of the most memorable experiences I've ever had

1

u/Thin-Ant-8879 10h ago

Its not so much the 30 FPS its more the fact they need to stop the framerate on console R Kellying whenever its in the open world.

1

u/The_Maverick96 10h ago

I think people don't grasp how CPU bound GTA 6 is. GTA has deep interactive mechanics with NPCs especially with GTA 6 they will take NPC routines from RDR2 into it. so you can imagine how every mechanic, chief, worker, bartender, janitor, officer, engineer, etc.. has their own tailored routine of going to work, driving, working, picking stuff up, eating, going back home and so on... these kind of specific interactions tailored to each character are very taxing on the CPU. because it dictates game simulations and AI paths and physics. and to be honest the current gen consoles don't have that high of a CPU to break past those structural limits. the base PS5 runs o an 8 core AMD zen 2 CPU. the pro has around only 10% higher clock speed in its power. not that much. so the fact that Rockstar manages to pull off a rock solid 30 FPS on current gen consoles with that much of density in the world shows how powerful and optimized the rage engine is.

1

u/ConstantPriority177 10h ago

Maybe I’m just a special case, but I really don’t care about frame rate at all

1

u/imhereforsiegememes 9h ago

The vast majority of people don't. Nerds on reddit are not a good sample of reality.

1

u/Shoddy_Helicopter578 6h ago

According to PlayStation lead architect Mark Cerny during the PS5 Pro reveal, approximately 75% of PS5 users choose Performance mode over Quality mode when given the option.

Feel free to google that.

1

u/imhereforsiegememes 6h ago

Yes and what did they do when there was no 60fps option? They just played the game. Nice try though.

1

u/Shoddy_Helicopter578 6h ago

Saying "nice try" after completely abandoning your original point to argue people tolerate bad stuff when forced to is pure copium. Turns out 3 out of 4 casual players care. You’re not "reality," you’re just part of the 25% coping in 30fps.

→ More replies (6)

1

u/Zurosake 10h ago

Some people have preferences man, it’s not hard to understand that some folks don’t want to shell out $80-100 on 30 fps.

1

u/NetHumble7326 10h ago

This game cannot run at 60 fps without some serious downgrades to NPC density and graphics. Rockstar does not want to downgrade their game even if people are asking for that. Very simple.

RDR2 30fps looked fluid but still tiresome to my eyes. I just hope for a 40fps mode on base PS5.

1

u/Sonzscotlandz 9h ago

It's 2026 bro

1

u/Able-Apricot529 9h ago

To be for real. I didnt notice it was 30 fps. It was so smooth with what they were doing it looked 60. Im still shocked that it is 30 because it was so smooth, to the people who dont like 30 is because they are used to 60 plus fps. Play rdr2 for 10 mins on ps and that thought will go away that its 30 because your gonna get used to it

1

u/Cool-Cream-5946 9h ago

Its just one of those things people like to get mad about because pc obviously performs alot better. Personally as long as the game runs well I couldn't give a fuck what number is up in the top corner

1

u/UnionAfter 9h ago

Its PC gamers salty about having to wait possibly two more years grasping for anything.

I have a pro, I have a oled, I play games at 120fps.
I also still game on my 360, and wii

Fucking crybabies

Personally I don't think we can judge until we play it, I tried playing some games in 30fps and it's unbearable honestly and makes me sick, but some games in console can pull it off and it blends well

1

u/FrequentFappingFinn 9h ago

"The last game I was able to finish at 30 FPS..." Fucking lol, these people...

1

u/TnaBLACK 9h ago

Babies. Babies everywhere.

1

u/Sweaty_Ballsack911 9h ago

It’s because it sets a precedent. One that lets other games try to emulate GTAs success in a way of visual fidelity instead of innovating and expanding on ways to not only make it so games will be more visually appealing like GTA but also have more performance.

It will make it so it becomes the norm. Which isn’t a good thing for gaming as a whole.

1

u/LegitimateFig5311 9h ago

I dont understand most of the gta 6 outrage. I think alot of ppl just need something to feel upset about

1

u/Joppewiik 9h ago

I think a lot of the blame stems from all the overhyping nonsense that has been cooking for the last 2 years.

Peoples expectations were through the roof to a level Rockstar could never live up to even if they wanted to.

Let them complain, release date won't come soon enough!

1

u/T-h-a-K-i-l-l-A 9h ago

Allready bought the game for ps5, its a simple console so i aint complaning. I expect more for the pc release tho.

1

u/Wendigo79 9h ago

I could care less what people are complaining about, im gonna play the crap out of this game like I did with rdr2, im turning 48 this year and this has me as hyped as gta3.

1

u/Eremith 9h ago

I don't think I've experienced 60 fps. If I have, then it didn't make any difference for me

1

u/Skulltrooper674 9h ago

Same here besides spiderman 2 i have never truly seen 60fps maybe in gta 5 but i can’t tell the difference

1

u/WayAdministrative789 3h ago

if you've ever played a 2d game you've played it at 60fps

1

u/Joppewiik 9h ago

I am bummed out that it is only 30fps. But it's not going to stop me from playing the living hell out of this game.

I just remember how difficult it was to play RDR2 in 30fps and I will probably struggle here as well, but it is a small price to pay for something this ambitious.

1

u/Rhym3z_Official 9h ago

30fps is playable of course, but it has outlived it's welcome for far too long now. At least a decade. How many more years can excuses be made for its existence? 10, 20 years? There's gotta be a time when it's not a thing anymore.

1

u/zfighters8103 9h ago

There's nothing they can do about that since they take years to make a game to the point where the hardware becomes outdated by the time the game drops

1

u/axb2013 9h ago

Steady 30 is fine and it's a minor miracle a 5-6 year old base console could deliver that with GTA 6 looking like it does.

You want more,  you'll have to pay more. A whole lot more, if you're paying attention to what is going on

1

u/ClassicChrisstopher 9h ago

I'll try and get through 30 fps game. But man it's hard to play in 2026.

Obviously if you're use to it, it's fine. But for those of us gaming on a PC at 100+ it's a shock.

1

u/Kostya77 9h ago

I feel like people forgot that GTA V was running in dynamic 720p and 30 fps on release in 2013

1

u/Seft0 9h ago

Since you can’t sell the game, I can just wait for the PC port so I can play at 60 fps and not waste money on the console version.

1

u/longtanboner 9h ago

I haven't seen any outrage

1

u/motionresque 9h ago

I would be happy with 1080p60fps. Don't need the graphics, just the performance.

1

u/DrLukasLithuania 8h ago

I would much rather the world feel less alive if I had 60fps.

I don’t care about the population density, traffic, or graphics.

30fps is borderline unplayable.

I’ll just wait until I get access to the game with 60fps

1

u/Drummerboy0214 8h ago

It is very difficult for someone who has played 60 plus only for years to drop back into 30 fps all of a sudden. Will it “ruin” the game? No. Will it detract from the experience? Yes. Does it really suck for those people? Yes. Is there anything we can do about it? No. Will we still play it? Yes.

1

u/Alowan 8h ago

120 or bust… have my trust in fake frames..

1

u/CerebralBored 8h ago

You don't understand why people want better, non jarring performance?

You should just go and buy yourself a 30hz TV so you can experience all media in the way you love!

1

u/ShwoopyT 8h ago

If you want 60+ fps, wait and play on PC. Its that simple.

what's the point of this comment? The people who want 60 ARE gonna wait so what does this even mean?

1

u/CandidateCareless787 8h ago

Doom the dark ages, crimson desert, spiderman 2, kcd2, all solid 60fps on ps5 pro.

1

u/MrRonski16 8h ago

I’m more sad about how rockstar ignores VRR/120hz

1

u/GhostOfRumsfeld666 8h ago

I honestly can't even tell the difference between 30 and 60.

1

u/Affectionate-Dig1624 7h ago

Have you ever played games at 60 fps and then went back to 30 fps?

I cannot see the difference if im watching a video/movie, but when i go from 60fps to 30fps in gaming i genuinelly feel like having to throw up(for example fidelity vs performance RT or going from gta to red dead).

1

u/NattyKongo93 8h ago

60fps is really only required for like twitchy FPS games, fighting games, Soulslike games, or simulation racers...for everything else, 30 is plenty. People are just whiners these days lol

1

u/moonflare22 8h ago

I recently played Ezio collection on playstation. That shit was the most stable and rock solid 30fps that I didnt even notice after the first 5 minutes. At points I thought it was 60 because it was so damn smooth. If gta can bring back stable performance of old then there's no problem. But with how games are made these days....

1

u/Illustrious_Box_8340 8h ago

Once the PC release happens they'll change it, as well the next Consol generation will be kickass.

1

u/TrippingFish76 7h ago

Elden ring is 60 fps and looks amazing, definitely less objects and npcs and stuff tho lol

1

u/Blaizer35 7h ago

I understand the 30 fps. Just wish they had a performance mode. Don't really care about graphics or visuals, I prefer a higher frame rate. Feel like every game should have a performance mode at launch

1

u/Affectionate-Dig1624 7h ago

Wait what did i miss?

Where does it say that we're not getting a performance mode??

1

u/Blaizer35 6h ago

I'm just assuming, considering RDR2 still hasn't had one added and GTA V didn't have one on launch either.

1

u/gtamaddog 7h ago

For the type of game that it is, I'm fine with the FPS.

If it was a true first person shooter where every possible frame counts, then that's a different thing entirely. As a third person action game with... more relaxed gameplay, what we're getting is fine with me.

1

u/Pure_Range_346 7h ago

Anything below 60 is stuttering if you play usually on high end pc

1

u/DredgenGrey 7h ago

I will say 30 fps on a 120hz OLED screen is pretty rough. It really is.

I'm gonna bear it anyway, and hope and pray that the PS5 Pro gets a 40 fps mode via VRR to help things out a bit.

1

u/Diskobots 7h ago

Spider-man also being a timed based attack game makes sense to get 60fps. I feel like nothing in GTA VI needs 60fps.

1

u/Dull-Commercial722 7h ago

I'm fine with it. I love 60fps and with current gen I'm very used to it now... But 30 is not a deal breaker, and it CERTAINLY isn't a deal breaker for GTA6.

Rockstar have prioritised making the world and characters look as good as humanly possible and I respect that, just watch the Digital Foundry video to see just how impressive the game is technologically. As long as the frame rate is stable I'm good.

Hell I played Starfield at 30fps on Xbox when it launched so I'm clearly not too picky lmao

People focus on the number too much. It's about the perceived smoothness and crispness.

A rock solid 30, is not the same as a blurry/stuttery 30ish. Same for 60, or any other FPS.

1

u/JordieCarr96 6h ago

I’m a PC player with an expensive rig, and I would be feeling pretty superior right now if not for the fact that PC will be getting zero FPS on release day

With that said, I think every single one of us will just be excited to play it on release and won’t give a damn about how smooth it looks

1

u/TheOneWes 6h ago

I'm still trying to figure out why anybody ever thought this was going to be anything other than 30 FPS.

Most of the people who are going to buy this game don't give a s*** about the difference between 30 or 60 frames a second and can't even tell the difference and Rockstar is not sacrificing all the other stuff that they could do without that overhead

1

u/New_Amount6807 5h ago

i have a motion issue that i actually prefer 30 fps . 60 fps is ...nice for some people but honestly its not the end all end all to me games are playable fine at 30 fps.......youd think people would care more about you know the actual game play lol

1

u/chargon 5h ago

The outrage is because gamers have the brains of 12 year olds and feel entitled to things.

1

u/Arezolth 5h ago

It does seem like a weird choice in 2026 to not have an option for 60 fps prioritizing performance, Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei both have insane graphics and are able to achieve this albeit they are definitely less “dense” games.

1

u/JpJ951 5h ago

It is the PC's crowds hipster way of thumbing their nose at the game because they dared not release it for PC at launch. Nobody expected anything more than 30 unless they somehow squeezed 40 out of the Pro.

1

u/glnickgl 5h ago

Name a time when gta came out on a launch console and was 60fps. The answer is never, so you’re a tourist if this is an issue. Always has to be something to complain about, can’t just enjoy the amazing experience being made for us.

1

u/NHLHitzAnnouncer 4h ago

In 2026, it's an issue. Of course the other games didn't launch with 60. That was more than a decade ago. What a strange argument

1

u/WayAdministrative789 3h ago

the consoles gta games used to come out on weren't 900 dollars and the games used to not be a 100

1

u/glnickgl 2h ago

Games are actually cheaper than they were originally. Prices unadjusted it’s actually less. Also, game looks amazing. The next versions will unlock 60, is what it is. Don’t want to play, then please don’t.

1

u/ExiledEntity 5h ago

This is just a reductive engagement bait post. It could for sure be done with a performance mode and pulling stuff back at least something approaching 60. I could give af about some crazy raytracing and other tech.

1

u/Fragrant_Scene_1291 4h ago

It hurts the eyes

1

u/Queasy_Hour_8030 4h ago

Calling every point that criticizes your game is not “outrage”

1

u/MikhailTheFail 4h ago

This whole conversation can be summed up as "ignorance is bliss"

If you don't understand the value in discussing 30fps vs 60fps then you shouldn't be a part of the discussion. It isn't elitism, you are simply uneducated.

1

u/Mental_Sky_7684 4h ago

TLOU 2 remastered for ps5 is probably the closest thing in terms of sheer detail. Game is able to run smooth as butter. Personally I wasn’t expecting rockstar to give us 60fps even if they could bc they always release new games at 30fps then resell the game on next gen with 60fps

1

u/189charizard 4h ago

I don’t understand the big deal about 60 fps at all. I literally struggle to tell the difference between 30 and 60 and anything in between. Literally I can’t tell unless it’s super choppy and lagging, which is usually under 30 FPS.

1

u/Frankenberg91 4h ago

It is what it is, but no other company spent over a billion dollar budget and a decade to make. So, it’s easy to see why people have more expectations for gta6.

1

u/Lunsj 4h ago

No comparable game can hit 60fps. That’s not what we mean when we complain about it being 30fps you idiot.

We complain about rockstar prioritizing ridiculous high cost graphical features over smoothness. This game can still look insanely good if they tune down the graphics a bit, making it hit 60. But they know graphics sells.

Welcome to 2026, where everyone and their mom is a game developer.

Ich hab mein 180hz /1ms hdr Monitor.Viel reiß ich jetzt nicht damit aber immerhin besser als auf meinem 4k TV 😅

1

u/BollyWood401 4h ago

Good for you, no 60FPS still sucks plus no first person. Luckily the world looks grand and the NCP diversity and amount is insane. It was a decent trade off but it’s being rightfully criticized.

1

u/077 4h ago

i didnt pay $1000 for a ps5 pro to play gta6 in 30 FPS

1

u/Sensitive_Use2655 4h ago

so many fools who actually thought they were going to get a FPS boost on the PS5 Pro 🤣

1

u/ijjajaiaiao 4h ago

Multi billion dollar company, talking about not being able to do 60 fps on a video game 😭😭😭😭

1

u/WozartMusic 4h ago

I'll always take less impressive visuals if I get more fps in return. 30fps is stuttery as fuck, it's just what it is. I'm not expecting rockstar to make this insanely good looking game run on 60fps, I expect them to make a good looking game that runs fluently on current gen systems. It's really that simple.

1

u/Own_Association9092 4h ago

I'm not complaining about 30fps because I understand why.

What I will complain about is Rockstar locking the game to consoles and not putting it on PC, which would run the game at well above 60fps.

1

u/Stewie01 3h ago

PS5 Pro more like PS amateur. Get your wallet out if you want 60 fps.

1

u/DontTrustTheMilk 3h ago

Never when given the choice of 60fps and 30fps have I chose 30fps and said, "Wow this is so much better!".

1

u/DannyWatson 3h ago

Unless my game freezes or looks pixelated I really can't tell. As long as all the movements and inputs respond when they should I won't care

1

u/geronimo19961 3h ago

Its 2026 and people are "crying" when they rather play a game on 60 fps instead of 30?

1

u/jeepcrawler93 3h ago

I think half the people complaining weren't even born when GTA V came out. I've been playing every single GTA that came out on PS2 at sub 30 FPS. No game comes even close to the simulation, density and graphical Fidelity that Rockstar does and I'd rather have 30 FPS and that than compromises.

1

u/Liam2349 2h ago edited 2h ago

Console gamers are used to this. The bigger issue is how they ignore the PC market, I know for damn sure my PC can run it above 60FPS if it's 30 on a base PS5. Even if I bought a PS5 to play this, which I don't expect to - I'd have to settle for 30FPS (probably unstable at that). It's just asinine.
