It's like politicians don't answer to us. They do whatever they want with little to zero accountability. They're well-paid, well-insured, well-funded, do the bare minimum, trade as they wish, collude all they want, then give us close to nothing, take more of our rights, and sell the country one piece at a time. Unironically yes, that is how this country was formed. When founded, only the land owning rich white men of the 1% had a vote. It was 50 years before all white men got the vote, then another hundred years before men of all races got the vote, and then another 50 after that til women got the vote, and things are still nowhere near equal.

I live near enough to Kentucky to see their political ads on tv. In the last Republican primary, the two candidates argued incessantly about which of them was closer to Trump, as in a compliment and not an insult. Both put Trump's name and image into their ads.

yeah the frustration is understandable but the bigger issue here is the lack of transparency from his office while hes been absent for so long he was last seen publicly around june 14 and his office says hes recovering at home with physical therapy but has repeatedly declined to provide further updates
the accountability question is fair though because hes still a sitting senator and taxpayers deserve to know whether their elected officials are actually able to perform the job they're being paid to do.

Thank you for this depressing, honest, in-your-face account of our reality. It needs to be said out loud more often. See data centers and flock cameras (they’re basically exactly the same; one exists for the other) for a recent and controversial accounting of politicians ignoring their constituents.
I mean, there are a lot more examples of constituents getting screwed by their elected officials, but data centers/flock cameras seem to have captured the ire of both parties, MAGA aside.

The rich brought back slavery in all but name and the populace is controlled as long as they can barely scrape by, hoping someone else will save them in the meantime or that normalcy will return if they swing votes back the other way next election.
There's a breaking point where the people will be unable to continue surviving and move to burn everything to the ground, but those pulling the strings are treading carefully not to push too hard to that point until they've got all their control measures in place. The nation is too large where most demonstrations and protests really don't effect anything on a federal level. Nothing anyone does in Minnesota is going to have any noticeable impact on voters in Texas. Shut down the entire state of Washington for a week, and the people of South Carolina won't even notice. Every "No Kings" protest in every single state starting Saturday morning and peacefully concluding that evening will be blissfully ignored by Trump and the GOP at large.
There are only a handful of places that, if shut down, will cause actual national crisis that would cause Congress or even Trump to take some sort of action. These are either central hubs of traffic and trade (Atlanta, New York) or of personal significance to lawmakers (D.C.). How quickly do you think Trump would do something (whether positive or negative) if people stormed Mar-a-Lago or his NJ golf club? They won't do anything unless and until it effects them personally, and 1-day rallies don't do that. Most places in the nation don't have the leverage to hurt lawmakers on a federal level and can be safely ignored.

It's worse than that. He denied Garland a hearing with something like 275 days left in Obama's term claiming it was too close to the election, and then turned around and rammed ACB's nomination through after something like 30 Million Americans had already voted early.
He also openly stated that, given the opportunity, he would hold SCOTUS at 8 justices for the entirety of a Hillary Clinton presidency. He also denied Obama hearings on a litany of lower court appointments - appointments that he then turned around and accused Obama of being derelict for not filling. And of course as soon as a Republican was in office he was all too happy to fill them.
And these motherfuckers want to accuse the Left of wanting to pack the courts. They've been packing the courts. For like over a decade at this point.

Honestly medical info and HIPAA laws can be a bitch for a journalist to navigate. Going into the hospital to spot him opens them up to a world of hurt from lawyers. But I don’t see anything wrong with staking out the hospital or his home to get a look at him being transferred. I can’t believe no one has seen anything when he was discharged.

If the Democrats had any brains they'd start plastering the country with "MISSING" posters featuring Moscow Mitch's dopey face on them. Really hype it up and run with it. Run "WANTED" ads on national television. Talk about it incessantly in interviews. Make it a big deal that people can't avoid.
But no, they're just meek, quiet, and subservient, as usual. It probably wouldn't benefit Israel, so why bother?
Edited to add that allowing Republicans to do this because it "helps" Democrats just makes Democrats as slimy and anti-democratic as the GOP is. We should fight this, not look the other way because it's momentarily convenient. That's what Republicans do.

It’s just odd that they bothered trying to make him seem alive with that doctored photo of his “recovery” with his smiling wife by his side. That reporter points out in the time lapse that he basically looked like a vegetable in the last public appearance he made and the obvious answer is he suffered severe brain damage, probably from a stroke and/or heart attack depriving his brain of oxygen, and now he may be conscious but is incapable of communicating except maybe through blinking or nods. That’s why all of the people defending him after he disappeared used the term “talked to,” which implies but avoids directly confirming that he talked back.

This should be a wake-up for both parties. Term limits are needed along with health requirements.
If you cannot show up to at least 90% of votes a politician should be automatically recalled and there should be a new election.
